JRAD is seeking candidates for an upcoming Operations Research Analyst (Senior) position supporting the U.S. Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC), Detachment 6 (DET 6) – Fighter Test Services (FTS). This position is located at Nellis AFB, NV.

The Operations Research Analyst (Senior) provides advanced analytical expertise in operations research, mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and simulation to support operational test and evaluation (OT&E) of fighter aircraft systems under the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC) Detachment 6 Fighter Test Services contract.

Leads the development and application of complex analytical methodologies to evaluate system effectiveness, suitability, survivability, and mission performance in representative operational environments. Integrates data from live flight testing, distributed test infrastructures, and the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) to produce comprehensive, decision-quality assessments.

Serves as a senior technical authority supporting all phases of the OT&E lifecycle, including test design, execution, analysis, and reporting. Provides strategic analytical guidance to government leadership and contributes directly to formal evaluation reports and acquisition decision-making.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Lead the application of operations research techniques, including advanced statistical analysis, optimization, simulation, and uncertainty quantification, to complex operational problems 
  • Design, develop, and validate high-fidelity analytical models and simulations supporting mission-level and campaign-level assessments 
  • Direct the analysis of large, complex, multi-source datasets (e.g., flight test data, simulation outputs, mission logs) to derive actionable insights and performance evaluations 
  • Define analytical approaches, metrics, and evaluation criteria in support of operational test planning and execution 
  • Lead trade studies, sensitivity analyses, and risk assessments to inform system performance, operational effectiveness, and suitability 
  • Integrate data across distributed test environments, ensuring data consistency, traceability, and analytical rigor 
  • Develop and oversee the creation of data visualization products, dashboards, and executive-level briefings 
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and journeyman analysts, ensuring quality and consistency of analytical products 
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including test engineers, systems engineers, intelligence analysts, and operational subject matter experts 
  • Support real-time and post-mission analysis during test events, including rapid assessment and issue identification 
  • Author and review technical reports, evaluation summaries, and formal OT&E documentation in accordance with government standards 
  • Advise government leadership on analytical findings, implications, and recommended courses of action 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable security, data management, and information assurance requirements

Required Skills and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline
  • 10 or more years of relevant professional experience in operations research, data analysis, modeling and simulation, or related analytical disciplines
  • Experience supporting operational test and evaluation (OT&E) activities within AFOTEC or similar test organizations
  • Familiarity with fighter aircraft systems (e.g., F-35, F-16, F-15, F-22) and air combat operations 
  • Experience with Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) or distributed test architectures 
  • Experience with data engineering, data pipelines, or cloud-based analytics platforms
  • Experience applying quantitative analysis methods to complex technical or operational problems
  • Familiarity with the following tools and technologies: programming languages – Python, R, MATLAB; data analysis tools – SQL, Excel, statistical packages; visualization tools - Tableau, Power BI or equivalent; modeling and simulation frameworks and analytical software tools
  • Experience leading analytical efforts and coordinating across multidisciplinary teams 

Security Clearance:

  • Active Secret clearance required; Top Secret/SCI preferred
