Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to success of the team by assisting in accomplishing results as needed in receiving, picking, inventory control, logistics coordination, deliveries, etc.
  • Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ensure completion of all daily inbound deliveries, backhauls, replenishments and urgent replenishments.
  • Maintain success of driver/delivery team through constant contact and enforcement of fleet maintenance programs and optimal routing schedules.  Ensure routing team controlled and maintained to make optimal routes and changes as necessary per shipment load.
  • Schedule direct outbounds and backhauls using the company fleet.
  • Partner with Purchasing and assist in scheduling common carrier transportation for outbounds and inbounds.
  • Maintain inventory of Exception Bins (vendor return, quarantine, special order, etc.).
  • Process order returns taking care to maintain cold-chain integrity for all product movements, perform quality assurance checks for product type and weight specifications.
  • Monitor the automated help desk and ensure that items are completed each day within a timely manner.
  • Create and monitor help desk tickets based on operational need and process improvements, partner with IT to ensure worked through completion.
  • Report/correct all products that do not scan with RF gun.
  • Become an active resource in implementation and use of SAP program.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on any needed actions.
  • Cross-train all staff on all functional areas where applicable.
  • Support all safety initiatives such as committees, OSHA, HAZMAT, HACCP, and SQF.
  • Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by monitoring/enforcing security protocols.
  • Proactively identify and lead process improvement through LEAN, Kaizen, and Six Sigma tools.
  • Manage and drive warehouse KPIs to ensure shift is operating efficiently and productively.
  • Maintain physical cleanliness and safety of warehouse by inspecting equipment, and issuing work orders for repair, requisition, and/or replacement.
  • Tour all facility locations, sign off on and assign all cleaning and repair responsibilities.
  • Complete daily warehouse operations by scheduling and assigning employees.
  • Maintain warehouse staff productivity through coaching, counseling, discipline, commendation, planning, monitoring and review of GAP reports.
  • Ensure that customer pick product that has been cancelled is returned to stock.
  • Recruit, hire, and terminate staff to ensure maximum productivity with allotted personnel levels.
  • Operate PIT equipment (obtain licensure).
  • Any other duty as assigned by the VP of Operations.

Food Safety:

This position has direct responsibility for food safety program initiatives, review, and enforcement.  As a member of the committee, it is required that this position be available to ensure that each program coincides with the day-to-day operations and are being successfully administered and followed by onsite staff.  Additionally, in the absence of higher-level committee members they must be educated and prepared for the first-line review of each program and must have the ability to obtain the education required for expertise in these areas.  This pertains directly to SQF or any other regulated food safety program.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Over five (5) years of management experience in manufacturing, production, or distribution environment.
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of warehousing KPIs
  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to multitask with strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the Standard English language.
  • Take ownership of facility during operations and practice “no excuse” leadership
  • Obtain forklift licensure.
  • Obtain DOT medical card/CDL-B licensure.
  • Must be able to work 6am-6pm - M-F.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS degree in logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment, when given a deadline know how to motivate yourself to meet it.
  • Enjoy analytical work and use data to provide thought-provoking and workable solutions.
  • Competent in public speech and writing.
  • Volunteer to lead projects and help the team achieve goals.
  • RF gun experience
  • Experience with SAP

Typical Work Environment Requirements:

  • Cold, stressful, and nonstop
  • Fast-paced warehouse setting
  • Work in various temperatures down to -10°F (Dry, refrigerated, & Freezer)
  • Standing, walking, sitting for up to 10-12 hours a day
  • Lifting and moving material up to 100 pounds each
  • Additionally, you may be required to lift, sit, stand, walk, twist, turn, stretch, push, pull, bend, or reach, both below waist and above the head, at any time to fulfill your job description.
