About the Role
As Operations Manager, you’ll oversee and optimize the daily performance of our field teams, vehicle fleet, courier logistics, and laboratory sample management. You’ll ensure turnaround times are met, processes are streamlined, and that every part of the operation works seamlessly together. By leading with efficiency and precision, you’ll make sure our teams have the structure and support they need to deliver results. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on operational excellence and balance multiple moving parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate support for sampling schedules, logistics, and equipment maintenance.
- Oversee the management of the vehicle fleet, ensuring optimal utilization, maintenance, and safety.
- Implement fleet management policies and procedures to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Manage turnaround times and alternatives for the logistics (courier) of sample transportation, ensuring timely and secure delivery to laboratories.
- Liaise with laboratories to ensure samples are processed efficiently and results are delivered on time.
- Monitor sample handling procedures to maintain high standards of quality and integrity.
- Supervise quality control teams, ensuring adherence to quality standards and protocols and implement quality control measures to minimize errors and improve service delivery.
- Oversee the reporting process of Lab results, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of results and reports
- Analyze and interpret team reports to identify trends, issues, or areas for improvement with a focus on automation.
- Continuously monitor and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.
- Focus on turnaround times of field services offering
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Agriculturists, ensuring their expectations are met
- Address concerns and feedback, working to resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Reporting on the abovementioned points on a regular interval
Requirements:
- A degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Must have 5+ years’ experience in operations management within agriculture
- Strong knowledge of field operations and agricultural practices.
- Proven skills in fleet management, logistics, and quality control systems.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, fleet management tools, and Power BI
- Professional fluency in Afrikaans and English (spoken and written).
- Familiarity with quality control processes and laboratory procedures
