The Role

The Operations Manager is responsible for safely and efficiently running Operations. The position is also responsible for the receipt, storage, handling, and shipment of all bulk products, blending and packaging components. Project management in relation to the facility and investigation into special projects. Minimize negative impacts to the environment in all areas of operations. Identify and record problems (non-vc fvcv conformances, incidents and near misses); initiate, provide, implement, and verify solutions to those problems. Continuous improvement in all areas pertaining to the job which include quality, health, safety, security, and environmental. This position reports to the Director of Operations. This position resides at the Avondale Terminal.

  • Assisting the Director of Operations as assigned
  • Direct supervision of the Track Department
  • Fill in for absent Shift Foreman
  • Oversight of Dock housekeeping
  • Conduct monthly verification of gauging equipment
  • Conduct annual shift evaluations via first hand observation
  • Oversight of special projects
  • Providing liaison with Fire & Safety Department
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least five years of terminal experience.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations.

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
  • Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.
  • Experience in the use of computers including Microsoft Office software (Excel and Word).
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work closely with others with a positive attitude and a willingness to help others.
  • Ability to represent IMTT in a professional and positive manner.
  • Compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interact with vendors, service providers, and employees in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to learn and adapt in a growing and changing environment

  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
  • This position requires working rotating shifts, overtime, and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

  • This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the employee have the ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain, to climb stairs and ladders, and traverse inclines: uphill, downhill or mixed.
  • Because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the applicant must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies. Must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • Must be able to work in a confined space, work over water, climb stairs and not be afraid of heights. Must be capable of wearing respirator and/or other PPE during some operations or emergencies.
