Description

As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all transportation and facility operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient processing of regulated medical waste. You will lead and develop team members, manage routing and warehouse activities, maintain fleet and equipment readiness, and ensure customer service excellence across assigned regions. You will collaborate closely with Dispatch, Sales, and internal teams to resolve issues promptly, support new customer setups, and drive continuous improvement in productivity and safety. Key Responsibilities

  • Complete routine scheduled preventative maintenance across assigned facilities.
  • Manage and oversee transportation and processing operations, collaborating closely with Dispatch and Warehouse Leads.
  •  Ensure supplies, equipment, and routes are properly staged to support daily deliveries and urgent customer needs.
  • Coordinate fleet and equipment maintenance, including documentation of unrepairable equipment for accurate inventory.
  • Perform routine quality control checks on sharps washing machines and containers to ensure sanitation standards.
  • Monitor, measure, and report operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  •  Support customer service by ensuring timely new customer setups, addressing missed stops, and coordinating pickups.
  •  Manage state permits, renewals, and regulatory compliance (DOT, DEQ, EPA, TJC, etc.).
  • Hire, schedule, train, and coach staff while fostering a strong safety culture and leading safety meetings.
  • Oversee budget and P&L performance, and manage fleet systems including HOS, safety training, and coaching.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of management experience (required).
  • Experience in transportation management in a fast-paced JIT environment.
  •  Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Ability to foster a positive, productive team environment.
  • Strong customer service mindset with ability to identify and address needs proactively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and remain organized while meeting organizational goals.
  • Effective communication with all staff levels, customers, auditors, and regulatory personnel.
  • Class D Chauffeur’s License required; CDL preferred/required per company standards.
  • Knowledge of Regulated Medical Waste, Pharmaceutical Waste, Hazardous Waste, Universal Waste, and Municipal Solid Waste/Recycling.
  • Must be willing to commit the time and effort required to complete assignments at a high level of quality.
  • Ability to learn company software programs used for routing and billing.

Skills Required
