 ABOUT YOU AND THE ROLE 

As Ample’s Operations Manager you will be responsible for developing a team and managing processes that will be the foundations of a quickly growing operations organization. You will solve complex challenges that enable Ample to move into our next phase of energy delivery - these solutions will require thoughtfulness, creativity, and a drive to innovate. Your work will be directly impacting operations strategy, process improvement, and most importantly delivery of an excellent customer experience. You are goal oriented, data driven, and operate with a sense of urgency.


RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Customer experience: Own keeping Ample’s service up and running in your territory, including maintenance of battery swapping stations and service of electric vehicles, providing an excellent level of customer service
  • Process innovation: Identify gaps in operational processes and design, propose, and implement new processes or changes to processes to address them
  • Hands-on management: Strong attention to detail and day-to-day operations; managing schedules and escalations, supplying regular status updates to leadership, and advocating for the team’s needs for success
  • Data analytics: Track operational metrics on a daily basis to identify issues, measure the efficacy of improvement efforts, and empower teams to meet ambitious growth goals
  • People development: Lead and grow a nimble and hands-on operations team of self starters, eager to learn and creatively problem solve; promote a culture of accountability and results through effective training and performance management
  • Face of Ample: Act as an operational counterpart to local fleet customers and other partners to coordinate programs and address issues


REQUIREMENTS

  • C1 or higher English language proficiency; N2 or higher Japanese language proficiency
  • BA/BS in technical field, or business field with relevant technical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in leading diverse, high-growth technical operations teams, managing field service/maintenance operations and technical escalation processes
  • Experience growing teams from small, scrappy operations to sophisticated organizations
  • Ability to understand complex technical products, including areas such as robotics and batteries (hardware and software - technical background is a plus)
  • Hands-on approach to management, no hesitation to jump in and get things done
  • Proven track record of operating independently with minimal supervision
  • Passion for solving ambiguous problems and building organizations for the future
  • A continuous improvement approach, adapting quickly and acting with a strong sense of urgency
  • Outstanding organization and verbal and written communication skills
  • Tech-savvy attitude towards web tools (Google Suite, Atlassian Suite, Airtable, etc)
