Symmetry is a business in build mode, evolving, growing and redefining what investment solutions should look like.A Operations and Implementation Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring that investment strategies are efficiently executed across multiple portfolios. This position typically involves a blend of analytical, operational and execution-focused responsibilities.
The role requires solid technical skills, practical understanding of financial data and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, with a focus on accurate execution, monitoring, and operational control of portfolio activities across systems and platforms.
Key responsibilities will include amongst others the following:
Portfolio Implementation & Execution
- Support the execution of portfolio management decisions across live client portfolios with accuracy and timeliness.Assist Portfolio Managers with the construction, implementation, and maintenance of live target portfolios.
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and validating portfolio rebalance instructions.Review and validate daily investment manager trade and instruction flows across platforms.
- Support monitoring of trade execution outcomes across portfolios, including cash positioning and reconciliations.
Cash & Liquidity Management
- Monitor fund‑level and portfolio‑level cash flows across portfolios.
- Oversee the processing of cash inflows and outflows to ensure mandates, client instructions, and liquidity requirements are met.
- Identify and resolve cash mismatches and escalate operational issues where required.
Operational Oversight & Control
- Support day‑to‑day portfolio implementation and operational activities.
- Review, maintain, and enhance daily trade, cash, and reconciliation dashboards.
- Ensure strong operational controls, accuracy, and auditability across all implementation processes.
- Perform daily checks across trades, cash, and portfolio positions, and investigate and resolve exceptions.
Product & Change Enablement
- Support the launch and implementation of new investment products in collaboration with portfolio management, operations, technology, and compliance teams.
- Support the implementation and rollout of new processes, systems, and product structures.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify and support improvements to portfolio implementation workflows.Participate in system and process enhancement initiatives..
- Leverage systems, data, and tooling to support efficient and controlled portfolio implementation processes.
- Document and standardise implementation procedures and best practices.
- Assist with testing, validation, and rollout of system and process enhancements.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Portfolio Managers, Operations, Risk, Finance, Technology, and external investment managers.
- Communicate clearly and effectively on implementation matters, operations, exceptions, and risks.
Qualifications and Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 1–3 years’ relevant experience in portfolio implementation, trading, investment operations, or multi‑manager asset management.
- Practical exposure to multi‑asset portfolios and collective investment structures.
- Strong analytical and data‑interpretation capabilities.
- High attention to detail with a strong control mindset.
- Solid understanding of financial markets, instruments, and trading dynamics.
- Familiarity with portfolio management systems, reconciliations, and data dashboards.
- Working knowledge of investment products, vehicle structures, and fee mechanics.
- Ability to interpret and implement portfolio instructions accurately.
- Clear, concise communicator—comfortable engaging both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem‑solving ability with a focus on root‑cause analysis.
- Comfortable operating in an evolving, fast‑paced environment.
The role operates within an evolving systems and data environment, requiring adaptability and a strong focus on accuracy and control.
