As Operations Director reporting to our Regional Data Centre Director, you will work closely with our Operations team, making an impact in a number of ways:
- Overall management and development of operations personnel
- Maintenance and financial reporting of operations for our Osaka data centre
- Being responsible for our critical environment maintenance planning activities at our Osaka data centre Leading, mentoring and training a team of Senior Technical Services Managers and supervising the contract management of site facilities providers for the tactical delivery of maintenance activities
- As Operations Director you will manage a campus of data centres including a range of customers
- Responsible for aligning and implementing operational business plans and overall strategy consistent with AirTrunk standards for your sites
- Responsible for aligning all operational process documents, procedures, and policies consistent with AirTrunk and customer requirements
- Responsible for identifying opportunities for process-based efficiencies
- Manage the planning, budgeting, and control of OPEX and operation-related minor CAPEX
- Responsible for the accuracy of annual budgets forecasts, management plans, and monthly reports
- Maintain strong relationship with customers and all functional teams within Operations
- Confirms that sites possess up to date emergency procedures and disaster recovery plans
- Enforces AirTrunk policies and standards related to procurement and contracting vendor services
- Supports bid processes for contract services, including reviewing proposals, bid analysis, and vendor selection recommendations to ensure best quality and cost
- Ensure health & safety and all other local and regulatory requirements are met
- Effectively run the site and achieve 100% uptime and compliance with customers' SLAs
- Manage all aspects of the planning and coordination of all preventive maintenance and repair works; ensure organisational change and incident management procedures are followed; coordinate activities as required with customers
- Coordinate with the development team to manage construction activity and installations, ensure system design, installation and testing adheres to operational standards
- Maintain site operating procedures (SOP, MOP, EOP) and any other documentation required by law e.g. SWMS
- Ensure compliance with site held accreditations, including, but not limited to ISMS, SOC2, PCI
- Maintain compliance with local regulatory requirements including environmental, building, fire, electrical, hydraulic, occupational health & safety
- Be the operational escalation contact for customers and point of escalation during emergency events and day-to-day operations
- Attend witness testing of all equipment during commissioning to validate sequence of operations and receipt of all operational documentation
- Supervise provisioning of data centre services including connectivity, power services, deployment and any additional services to be delivered to the data centre customers
- Lead minor capital projects for customers and internal purposes
- Manage all maintenance and repair vendors and OPEX budget
- Measure operational metrics, data and analyse risks
- Conduct regular property inspections
- 10+ years' experience in facilities or operations management
- Fluent in English and Japanese
- Electrical or mechanical trade background or degree
- Ability to establish and review Method of Procedure documents, incident reports, emergency event summaries, root cause analysis reports, CAPEX/OPEX budget forecasts/reports and O&M manuals
- Experienced in managing third party service providers; setting and managing critical metrics, negotiating contracts and pricing for services
- Experienced in working with Customer Portals, BMS, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
- Ability to effectively manage internal and external customers
- Ability to deliver effective presentations.
- Ability to travel to sites within Japan (<25%)
