Position Summary

The Operations Director – Flagship Transformation is responsible for leading and coordinating all operational aspects of the 59th Street Flagship Transformation while serving as the primary operational liaison in a continued relationship for leased partners, luxury brands, and external stakeholders. This role ensures transformation initiatives are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and with minimal disruption to daily business operations and the customer experience.

The position partners closely with General Contractors (GCs), Project Managers (PMs), Facilities, Visual, Asset Protection, Merchants, Technology, and Leased Partners to successfully deliver transformation milestones and maintain operational excellence throughout all phases of renovation, modernization, and post-project activities. This role serves as the operational leader for transformation execution, business continuity, and leased partner integration, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently while supporting strategic business objectives and a seamless customer and associate experience.

Key Responsibilities

Transformation Governance & Project Leadership

  • Lead operational planning and execution for flagship transformation, renovation, and construction projects from pre-construction through project completion.
  • Attend and actively participate in pre-construction meetings, site walks, executive reviews, and project planning sessions with key stakeholders and business partners.
  • Establish governance processes, project tracking tools, accountability measures, and communication plans to support successful project execution.
  • Coordinate all inbound deliveries, logistics, staging, swing-space planning, relocations, and load-out activities required to support project timelines.
  • Develop and manage resource plans, ensuring appropriate support from Facilities, vendor partners, operational teams, technology resources, and third-party contractors.
  • Conduct regular project walks with General Contractors, Project Managers, Facilities, and business partners to monitor progress, identify risks, and resolve operational challenges.
  • Review and interpret phasing plans to ensure operational readiness, business continuity, customer experience protection, and successful execution of each project phase.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize disruption to customers, associates, selling operations, fulfillment activities, and leased businesses during construction.
  • Track project milestones, operational impacts, and transformation deliverables to ensure projects remain on schedule and aligned with business objectives.

Leased Partner & Luxury Brand Management

  • Maintain strong partnerships with leased departments, luxury brands, and external vendors throughout project planning, execution and after shop openings.
  • Serve as the primary operational point of contact for leased partners, ensuring alignment on project timelines, logistics requirements, business impacts, and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate partner transitions, relocations, temporary closures, openings, merchandising activities, and readiness plans during renovation projects.
  • Ensure leased partners remain informed and engaged throughout all phases of construction, modernization, and transformation efforts.
  • Partner with Merchandising, Store Leadership, Construction, and Facilities teams to support successful luxury brand openings and flagship enhancement initiatives.
  • Facilitate resolution of operational issues impacting leased partners, including access, logistics, customer experience, facilities support, and project sequencing.

Business Continuity & Operational Readiness

  • Ensure business continuity throughout all phases of transformation by developing and executing operational readiness plans.
  • Partner with operational leaders to protect sales generation, fulfillment execution, customer service, and associate productivity during construction activities.
  • Coordinate communication and change management activities to support associates, leaders, vendors, and leased partners throughout project implementation.
  • Identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact to customers, associates, and business performance.
  • Support execution of temporary operating models, space transitions, and customer service enhancements required during project phases.

Budget & Financial Management

  • Own and manage the Non-Operating Expense budget related to flagship transformation projects and operational support activities.
  • Monitor project-related expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure fiscal accountability throughout all phases of transformation.
  • Partner with leadership teams, Finance, and project stakeholders to forecast expenses and manage budget performance.
  • Support evaluation of project investments, operational impacts, and resource requirements to ensure responsible financial stewardship.
  • Track operational costs associated with construction, relocations, temporary support needs, and business continuity activities.

Project Closeout & Accountability

  • Drives the project punch-list process, ensuring all outstanding items are documented, tracked, and resolved upon project completion.
  • Verify that all construction, facilities, operational, and partner requirements are met before project sign-off.
  • Coordinate final inspections, operational reviews, and partner walkthroughs to ensure project deliverables are completed to expectation.
  • Measure project outcomes against transformation objectives and operational success metrics.
  • Provide post-project evaluations, lessons learned, and recommendations to support continuous improvement for future transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure successful transition from project implementation to ongoing operational ownership.

Qualifications

  • Strong operational leadership experience in retail, transformation management, facilities, construction, project management, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and stakeholder groups simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, project phasing, facilities operations, business continuity planning, and vendor management.
  • Experience supporting leased businesses, luxury brands, or multi-partner retail environments preferred.
  • Experience managing budgets and controlling expenses.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple levels of leadership and external partner organizations.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and change leadership capabilities.
  • 5-10 years of experience
