Operational Excellence & AI Data Engineer
Role Summary:
Lead/support the development and execution of analytics, automation, and AI-enabled solutions that improve operational efficiency and support business priorities across Asia Pacific.
Serve as a senior individual contributor within a newly formed capability, operating with a high degree of autonomy to shape solution design, establish standards, and deliver scalable tools from concept through implementation.
Partner closely with business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to translate ambiguous challenges into actionable, data-driven outcomes.
We will count on you to:
Develop and execute strategies for implementing analytics-driven tools, automations, and data solutions that improve operational effectiveness and align with broader business goals.
Apply advanced expertise in data engineering, analytics, and solution design to build scalable models, dashboards, workflows, and applications that address complex business challenges.
Lead/support end-to-end delivery of analytical and operational improvement solutions, from data sourcing and transformation through modeling, visualization, deployment, and adoption.
Advise stakeholders on complex or unclear business issues and translates analytical findings into practical recommendations and actionable insights.
Identify and prioritize opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve process quality, and enhance decision-making through data, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities.
Guide the design and implementation of automation tools, including scripted pipelines, Excel add-ins, desktop applications, and user-facing solutions that improve productivity and control.
Apply AI, machine learning, and generative AI capabilities where appropriate to create measurable value for internal and external stakeholders.
Establish development standards, documentation practices, and scalable ways of working for a growing operational excellence and data solutions capability.
Manage mid- to large-scale projects and workstreams, directing priorities, coordinating delivery, and ensuring solutions are sustainable, maintainable, and aligned to stakeholder needs.
Coach and support junior team members by sharing technical guidance, raising delivery standards, and promoting strong analytical and engineering practices.
What you need to have?
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative discipline; advanced degree preferred.
Significant relevant experience in data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, automation, or a related technical role.
Advanced proficiency in SQL and deep understanding of data modeling, data transformation, and scalable analytical architecture.
Strong experience using Python for analytics, automation, and production-oriented solution development.
Prior experience developing dashboards and business-facing analytical solutions using Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization platforms.
Experience with C#/.NET application development, including desktop applications, Excel add-ins, or similar user-facing tools.
Demonstrated experience applying AI, machine learning, or generative AI solutions in practical business settings.
Experience working in insurance, reinsurance, financial services, or other complex, data-rich environments is strongly preferred.
Ability to operate in ambiguous environments and building new capabilities, products, or processes from the ground up is preferred.
Strong strategic thinking and the ability to connect technical solutions to business outcomes.
Sound judgment and the ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-evolving environments.
