About us

Teracloud ApS is a Denmark based software product company with a wide range of product lines from industrial power and climate controllers. Our mission is to provide R&D services to our partners.  This position is for our VMS Brand.

VMS Software (VSI) develops, maintains and supports the OpenVMS operating system from HPE, which is in operation for more than 40 years in key companies responsible for running a great deal of our society’s infrastructure.

VMS Software is a combination of senior and junior software professionals, with regional hubs all over the world. We are looking for a mid-level Operating System Specialist to join our team.

The Program for our Operating System Specialist

This is a fully on-site position, and you will be working from our Copenhagen Office on a daily basis.

The first 6 months of your employment will consist of onboardingperiod, which will include thorough theoretical and hands-on training in our own Operating system.   You will be partnering with experts in different parts of Europe, each with different experience in technical customer tasks. The expertise ranges from monitoring of pre-installed systems, configuration & tuning, up to migration of legacy deployments.

The role can in time be adapted to your interests, and your career within VMS Software could possibly cover any of the following alternatives:

  • Operating System and User Administrator
  • Script Developer and Automation Specialist
  • System Programmer
  • Performance & Tuning Expert
  • Solution Architect
  • Or all the above if you do have a very broad scope of talents!

You will participate in customer visits and on-site deployments, so you learn from the best in the field, as the action takes place. The majority of tasks will be planned in advance but expect on rare occasions you will be required to travel within Europe and/or to be available at weekends, when compensation for both will be provided. This could for example be 3 times a year but depends strongly on customer needs.

Your experience and skills:

Need to have:

  • Proven experience as an administrator of one or more Operating System, e.g. Windows Server and Linux, FreeBSD, OpenVMS, others

  • Proven problem-solving skills; familiar with logical troubleshooting methodology
  • Educational background within Engineering, CS, SW Development, or Exact Sciences

Nice to have:

  • Experience in Computer Hardware maintenance, particularly servers and storage
  • Experience in programming languages, particularly C, C++ or legacy ones such as Pascal, Basic, Fortran, Cobol, etc
  • Experience in customer facing technical roles

You identify with the majority of the following traits:

  • You are able to discuss pros and cons of any technical choice, specially when comparing OS distributions. You understand that there are no absolute solutions, only trade-offs.
  • Ability to distinguish personal vs team vs customer needs; understand different points of view when it comes to favoring a given trade-off
  • Strong curiosity and desire to learn. You like reading about new technologies. You want to know how things work!
  • Open-minded, able to think out of the box
  • You like solving technical puzzles, and resolving problems by following logical conclusions. You learn quickly.
  • A positive attitude to meeting challenges and interacting with your peers: not only listing problems but also proposing solutions.
  • You use clear and precise language, you take responsibility for your technology choices and solutions, you rise to the occasion.
  • You get the details of a technical solution, but also can quickly go back to a high level overview as demanded by the situation

This is what you get:

In additional to an open and welcoming work environment at our Copenhagen office, in a prime location with very easy public transport access, we offer:

  • All expenses paid for participation in training, conventions and seminars
  • 5 additional vacation days per year (ferie-fridage)

  • Paid mobile subscription and home internet
