Businesses, governments, and consumers are increasingly realizing the severity and scale of the climate crisis. The journey to Net Zero needs to start with companies committing to Science Based Targets and addressing their value chain emissions through decarbonisation efforts. However, leading research is increasingly emphasising that we cannot reach global climate goals solely from within value chain decarbonisation.
Carbon markets play the important role of linking corporate leaders and their Net Zero commitments, with project developers on the ground that are removing or avoiding carbon emissions through their projects. Experts estimate that these markets will need to scale to at least 20% of current global emissions or approximately 10 Gigatons by 2050, a 40x-fold increase from their size today.
BlueLayer’s customers are the developers that are scaling carbon projects on the ground, to help large corporate partners address beyond value chain mitigation. These projects operate through a wide range of activities, from reforestation, forest conservation and peatland restoration to frontier solutions like direct air capture and enhanced rock weathering.

BlueLayer brings together a dynamic team with a wealth of diverse experiences ranging from founding companies to leading impact investment teams and building disruptive technology startups. Previously, members of the founding team have built Moonfare (valued at more than $600m) and Just Climate (a $1.5bn AUM fund platform), deployed over $5bn in sustainability & climate investments, hired and led teams of more than 150 people, and scaled operations across ~20 countries.
