What you'll do:
- Ontology & Vocabulary Development: Assist in creating, maintaining, and updating controlled vocabularies, taxonomies, and biomedical ontologies to ensure structured knowledge representation.
- Standardization & Alignment: Support efforts to align internal ontologies with industry standards, such as SNOMED, LOINC, ICD, MeSH, OMOP, CDISC, and FHIR.
- Terminology & Concept Curation: Work on defining concepts, relationships, and hierarchy structures within ontologies to enhance usability and consistency.
- Quality Assurance & Consistency: Review and validate terminology usage, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with industry best practices.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with clinical, product, and data teams to understand requirements and document ontology-related updates.
- Process Improvement & Innovation: Identify areas for enhancing ontology management workflows and contribute to best practices in vocabulary governance.
- Project Support: Assist in ontology-driven initiatives, ensuring timely updates and integration with relevant systems.
What you'll bring:
- 1-3 years of experience in ontology development, terminology curation, or biomedical knowledge organization.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Health Informatics, Biomedical Sciences, Library Science, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Exposure to ontology management tools (e.g., Protégé, BioPortal, TopBraid) and terminology standards (e.g., SNOMED, LOINC, ICD, MeSH, OMOP, CDISC).
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and an ability to work with structured vocabularies.
- Ability to learn quickly, collaborate in cross-functional teams, and adapt to evolving ontology frameworks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting and communicating ontology structures.
- Familiarity with clinical trial ontologies and regulatory standards (e.g., CDISC, FHIR).
- Experience with biomedical terminology mapping and harmonization.
- Basic knowledge of knowledge graphs or AI applications in ontology-driven insights.
