Purpose and Scope:
The Omnichannel Analytics Chapter Lead is part of the Customer Engagement Excellence (CEE) team within the broader Value Delivery organization. CEE is an integrated global group focused on supporting capabilities across VALUE Delivery, including Commercial (Sales/Marketing), Market Access and Medical Affairs, to enhance delivery and outcomes to the business, whilst prioritizing ethical decision making. During all such activities, there is a need to ensure that the integrity and independence of Medical Affairs capabilities is not compromised. The Chapter Lead is expected to proactively communicate and consult with members of the CEE team and senior Medical Affairs management as necessary to ensure that such the integrity and independence of Medical Affairs is maintained at all times
The Omnichannel Analytics Chapter Lead is a “player-coach” role, responsible for driving both critical deliverables and outcomes and supporting the professional growth and development of their chapter team members.
In their role as a ‘player’, this role may be called upon to lead / be a member of cross-functional Pods and Value Teams focused on resolving specific business problems for the organization. Pods and Value Teams will be stood up and evolved based on changing business objectives. They are critical thought leaders within their field of expertise for the organization. As a Value Team lead, this role will manage a number of cross-functional resources focused on specific objectives and outcomes, identify and prioritize the team’s backlog of work, resolve / escalate strategic risks, and manage expectations of stakeholders. they will work directly with the Pod Lead to align strategy and deliverables based on the mission. As a Pod lead, this role will manage a group of Value Teams to deliver business, program, or initiative outcomes with similar or related missions; the Pod Lead will report into the Hub Lead and work with other Pod Leads to align and deliver on the proposed outcomes.
The Chapter lead is responsible for developing the capabilities and skillsets of their teams, providing coaching and mentoring managing team resource capacity, supporting the learning and career development of their Chapter team, managing the teams’ compliance with standards and leading practices, continuous improvement and shared learning.
The Omnichannel Analytics Chapter Lead is responsible for providing strategic oversight and leadership of the global team responsible for Omnichannel Analytics. This position plays a critical strategic role in leading, inspiring, and guiding this team to provide timely, strategic, and actionable data-driven insights to maximize commercial success.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Leadership and Strategy:
- Collaborate with the Advanced Analytics Practice Lead to define the strategic direction of the Chapter, in alignment with the broader VALUE Delivery strategy
- Develop and implement best practices in Omnichannel Analytics based on market and value team feedback
- Build, lead, evolve and inspire analytics team, including recruiting, mentoring, and developing people, building capabilities in data assets, models, operational processes, and technology, deepening team expertise in advanced analytics business applications and methodologies.
Expertise Development:
- Seeking opportunities to develop team members and elevate their Omnichannel Analytics skillsets while continuing to refine their own personal expertise
- Gather feedback and various inputs to assess skillset maturity of team members
- Participate/lead training programs, workshops, and mentorship opportunities to enhance team capabilities and knowledge
- Maintain working knowledge of data sources, data systems, programs, and software resources (e.g. AWS Redshift, DataBricks, SQL, Python) to ensure optimal and efficient support of department objectives.
- Keep up to date on analytics and informatics developments and lead discussions within team and with internal partners on appropriate use of new methodologies.
Delivery:
- Lead / contribute to cross-functional Pod and Value Team delivery, including executing advanced analytics as necessary.
- Ensure analytics activities provide integrated, actionable insights and recommendations that are rooted in a strong understanding of business, therapeutic area and brand context and drive more informed strategic and tactical business decisions.
- Responsible for working with other leaders across Astellas (e.g., IS, Legal, Compliance, Pharmacovigilance, Sales Operations, Regional and Affiliate partners) to enable efficient, effective project execution and appropriate use of data, reporting and analytics.
- Set quality standards and processes to ensure consistency and quality of deliverables.
Agile Leadership:
- Facilitate the interface and communication with teams across markets, acting as a steward of agile methodology to facilitate ways of working
- The Chapter Lead ensures their team understands and utilizes agile ways of working, providing skills development as needed
- Foster a culture of collaboration, flexibility, and responsiveness to change, enabling the team to thrive in an agile environment
- Identify barriers to completing analytics and work with internal teams to resolve these issues.
- Provide avenues and opportunities for innovation in analytics in alignment with stakeholder strategy
Resource Allocation:
- Collaborate with the Advanced Analytics Practice Lead to align resource capacity with demand from the business and Pods/Value Teams
- Collaborating with Advanced Analytics Practice Lead to manage capacity and workload, making adjustments as necessary to meet demand and timelines
- Collaborate with the Advanced Analytics Practice Lead in evaluation of business cases for budgeting and purchasing, participating in contracting as a business need expert.
Stakeholder Management:
- Engage with key internal stakeholders to drive strategy and outcomes, as well as key external stakeholders based on Chapter-specific objectives
- Collaborate with other Chapter Leads to support internal and external customer needs
Performance and Team Management:
- Work with Advanced Analytics Practice Lead to facilitate performance management process, identify high-potential resources, and support short- and long-term succession planning
- Address and communicate team performance challenges to Advanced Analytics Practice Lead
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, Statistics, or Computer Science or an analytics-related field
- Minimum 15 years of related experience with 10+ years of pharmaceutical analytics required that includes data analysis with demonstrated success in managing related teams and projects of increasing size and complexity.
- Experience in Advanced Analytics techniques such as Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Simulations
- Experience with data management systems and analytics workflows
- Familiarity and understanding of coding languages (e.g. SQL, Python is preferred).
- Experience leading teams in an agile environment, with a strong understanding of agile methodologies and practices
- Demonstrated ability to develop talent and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration and partnering skills with demonstrated ability to lead and work in a team-based environment.
- Strong knowledge of omnichannel concepts and data sources, e.g., impressions/click data, web data, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or MBA in a relevant field.
- Strong understanding of other Customer Engagement Excellence functions (i.e., data strategy, primary/secondary market research, forecasting, competitive intelligence)
- Working knowledge of one or more data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau and QlikSense
- Experience working with global partners
- Knowledge of the global healthcare landscape including different access models
