The Role

A career in PwC's One Firm Risk Organization (OFRO) provides the opportunity to develop, interpret, inform and monitor areas of risk management which includes: internal and external risk management policies, contracting, independence, quality, compliance and related technology. OFRO supports PwC's market facing activities by enabling client engagement teams to more effectively assess and manage risks in order to facilitate the profitable delivery of our products and services. Our Independence Scope of Services team helps maintain the firm's independence. The team provides independence guidance to the PwC lines of service through engagement scope reviews, coaching for engagement teams and assistance with non-audit service independence matters in accordance with rules and regulations governed by regulators as well as PwC independence policies.

Demonstrates intimate abilities and/or a proven record performing functions that involve the application of independence regulations/policies to assess risk associated with Private Equity (PE) emphasizing the following areas:
- Serving as a consultant to client service practitioners on scope of service independence matters and provide guidance based on policy and regulatory requirements;
- Performing initial review of proposals, engagement letters and Authorization For Services (AFS) requests to align scope of service in accordance with independence restrictions;
- Assisting in performing affiliate determinations and scoping of required independence assessments;
- Assisting with Authorization For Services (AFS) approvals; and,
- Serving as the scope of service escalation point of contact on informal complex matters for the PE Independence team.Demonstrates intimate abilities and/or a proven record of success in the following areas related to Independence-related policy consulting for a global network of professional consulting services firms:
- Liaising with the Independence Office on consultations referred to or from the Independence Office;
- Collaborating with broader OFRO (One Firm Risk Organization) teams focused on Independence for training activities and strategic change initiatives;
- Managing, reporting project status and escalating issues to team leaders on assigned daily responsibilities as well as other team initiatives and process improvement efforts, with primary focus on the implementation of scope-of-service independence and business requirements through the AFS application;
- Leading, coaching and developing other members of the team;
- Utilizing attained independence-related knowledge and client-service experience to match rules to facts and then to make an authoritative decision;
- Leveraging business writing skills to articulate PwC's services or document a position taken in a concise manner, especially as it involves project management, resource allocation, problem resolution, and presentation and communications development;
- Working independently towards quality completion of projects, keeping supervisors apprised of progress;
- Training staff on matters pertaining to the subject matter specialty;
- Participating and/or leading special projects;
- Working closely with and supporting team leaders and members on consultations or projects involving cross or multiple lines of service;
- Developing and maintaining working relationships with client service teams within the various practices and become the focal point of contact for non-audit/non-attest scope-of-services independence questions that may arise; and,
- Being self-motivated and taking ownership of learning Independence scope-of-services policies to gain a deeper understanding of independence policies and guidance, and the application of these policies and guidance to engagement situations and other initiatives.

The salary range for this position is: $89,000 - $315,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. For roles that are based in Maryland, this is the listed salary range for this position. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws.
