Are you someone who enjoys bringing clarity to complex information and working in a fast-paced environment? This is an opportunity to join the Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai in a varied role that sits close to the heart of public service. 


As an Official Information and Government Services Advisor, you will support timely, accurate responses to Official Information Act requests and core Ministerial servicing, including Parliamentary Questions, correspondence, status reports, and proactive releases. Working across two teams, you'll be comfortable working across multiple areas, collaborate with colleagues across DOC, Ministers’ offices, requesters and other agencies to gather information, manage deadlines and risks, and deliver high-quality responses.

We are looking for a thoughtful, organised, and resilient person who takes pride in getting the details right. You will be comfortable working at pace, handling sensitive information responsibly, and providing practical support to people with different needs and priorities. 


If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you: 

  • Knowledge of machinery of government, Ministerial and Parliamentary processes, and Official Information Act, Privacy Act and Public Records Act 
  • Strong organisational and information skills to coordinate the end-to-end delivery of Official Information Act requests, Ministerial advice and correspondence, Parliamentary Questions, proactive releases and related information requests 
  • A track record of delivering high-quality, accurate work and strong attention to detail. 
  • Sound judgement and analytical thinking, with the ability to assess information, spot issues and think carefully about risk 
  • Proven ability to ensure the effective flow of information between Directors and the directorates, synthesising and communicating key messages, risks, and insights to support informed decision-making and organisational alignment 
  • Proven ability to provide proactive support, anticipate needs, and effectively manage competing priorities in a complex environment 
  • Strong ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, with confidence working with senior leaders and a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders 
  • Experience identifying opportunities for process improvement 
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365, business systems, and digital tools to coordinate the day-to-day work.

Salary: $80,695–$101,951, depending on skills and experience.
