Position Summary

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Springer Satellite. This position also provides support to staff, faculty students, and the community within the Satellite. This position proactively identifies and analyzes regional workforce trends and labor market data to align satellite programming with local industry needs. This position collaborates with community stakeholders, business leaders and academic directors to support the creation of innovative educational opportunities and certificate programs that address specific regional skills gaps. This position may be required to provide necessary support for other LCC campuses as identified by the college.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Flexibility to maintain a non-standard work schedule, including evenings and occasional weekends, to ensure operational coverage to meet the needs of the college.
  • Serves as the college’s outreach representative, actively initiating outreach with local businesses, high schools, and the community to recruit students and promote Luna Community College’s programs.
  • Assists in planning and preparing budgets, funding proposals and financial related reports.
  • Monitors the Satellite’s annual budget, prepares future budget requests, prepares budget adjustment requests as appropriate, adhering to Luna Community College rules and regulations.
  • Provides support to faculty, staff, students and community members as needed.
  • Coordinates with the Facilities department on additional needs and support of custodial staff when necessary
  • Provides services for and in conjunction with the following departments: Academic and Career Placement, Admissions and Recruitment, Bookstore, IT, Financial Aid, Fiscal Office, Registrars, Security, Academic departments, and the Warehouse.
  • Provides assistance to students in the area to include placement testing, advisement, admission, registration or other student enrollment, retention, and support as identified by the college.
  • Manages and maintains the facility to include assessment and planning of current and new facilities and equipment in conjunction with the main campus, Physical Plant, and community of Springer.
  • Collaborates with main campus to initiate and administer student recruitment and retention efforts related to the Satellite program, including but not limited to advising prospective students, scheduling, and compiling outcomes assessment examinations.
  • Participates in institutional, professional and other committee activities.
  • Establishes and maintains positive external professional contacts and relationships that support the strategic goals of the institution.
  • Provides student reports as needed.
  • Engages in necessary professional development and adoption of best practices as it relates to areas of supervision and service to the college’s constituency.
  • Serves as a liaison to the Rough Rider Mentorship Program.
  • Assists with duties at the Las Vegas and other satellites when needed.
  • Must be willing to work odd hours and weekends as identified by the college
  • Must travel to various sites, school districts or other necessary meetings as identified by the college.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Understanding of surrounding community, employment opportunities, and educational and training needs.
  • Understanding of procurement and budget processes.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a field-based environment and build professional networks from the ground up.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (both orally and verbally).
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in standard office equipment, including personal computer and standard office software
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL FACTORS

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection.
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES

  • Associate’s Degree in a related field is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Three years of experience coordinating multiple functions in a post-secondary institutional setting is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in working with stakeholders and business leaders to create educational opportunities.
  • Must maintain and possess a valid Driver License without restrictions.
