Office Mail Room Assistant - Temporary
Location: Stamford, CT
Reports To: Manager, Corporate Services
Position Type: Temporary, In-Office
Duration: 3 Months
Schedule: 3–4 Days per Week, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (Monday through Wednesday)
Pay Rate: $20–$25 per Hour
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, organized, and energetic Temporary Office Mail Room Assistant to support our Corporate Services team for a three-month assignment. This role is responsible for handling incoming and outgoing mail, shipping and fulfillment activities, inventory management, and general mail room operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable performing both administrative and physical tasks in a fast-paced office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort and distribute incoming mail and packages.
- Process daily outgoing mail using mailing equipment.
- Prepare packages and materials for shipment.
- Operate shipping software and systems, including FedEx.
- Assist with marketing mailings and special distribution projects.
- Complete order fulfillment requests for departments.
- Perform copying, printing, and document preparation tasks.
- Order and restock office, kitchen, maintenance, and mail room supplies.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of mail room and storage areas.
- Support general mail room operations and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, professional attitude.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic knowledge of office equipment, printers, mailing machines, and shipping systems.
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and willing to assist with a variety of office support functions.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, and move boxes, packages, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely lift items from countertop height to floor level and vice versa.
- Comfortable using hand trucks and push carts.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, sorting, and moving of packages and supplies.
- Regular use of office equipment, shipping systems, and mail processing equipment.
- Work is performed in an office and mail room environment.
