POSITION: Office Assistant Senior        

SALARY: $20.55-$23.82, per hour D.O.E

REPORTS TO: Program Manager         

LOCATION: History and Archaeology, Nespelem, WA 

Basic Functions: This is a Non-Exempt position. Performs recurring, yet technically oriented clerical, data compilation, secretarial, and customer service duties within a department, program, or equivalent Tribal function.  Assignments can be in instructional or administrative areas, and where guidance is more on a technical and troubleshooting level.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training: 

  • The position requires a high school diploma supplemented by college-level course work in general office practices and 2 years of general clerical and keyboarding experience in a customer service oriented environment.
  • May require a valid state driver's license. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • The position requires a working knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment, including filing systems, receptionist and telephone techniques, and letter and reports writing. 
  • Requires working knowledge of procedures associated with processing financial transactions such as purchase orders, vouchers, and budget line items changes.
  • Requires working knowledge of personal computer-based software that support this level of work, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheets, and software (with data entry screens). 
  • Requires sufficient arithmetic skills to compute sums and punctuation, proofreading/editing, to prepare standardized correspondence. 
  • Requires sufficient human relations skills to present a positive image of the Tribe, convey technical information to others and used patience in dealing with diverse population.
  • Requires the ability to perform all of the duties of the position in a high volume environment that may be dominated by distractions. 
  • Must be able to perform clerical and secretarial working with speed and accuracy. 
  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply Tribal and agency rules, regulations and policies. 
  • Requires the ability to plan organize and prioritize work in order to meet schedules and timelines. 
  • Requires the ability to use a personal computer to produce correspondence, informational materials and conduct basic research. 
  • Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality of private and sensitive information. 
  • Requires the ability to maintain productive and cooperative relationships with parents, staff, students, external organization and the public using patience and courtesy.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance.  In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances.  If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
