The Ocean Trade & Pricing Analyst is a Key support function to Trade Manager and Senior Director Ocean Services.
Assist with carrier relations for Ocean Services in conjunction with trade manager and directors of Ocean Freight. Assist to drive new business to JAS by providing best procurement results geared towards growth plans in place and by supporting internal JAS customers (WOT team, Commercial channels and Customer Service teams / Branches) with strategic pricing & procurement solutions and to negotiate and manage the trades in conjunction with trade manager.Key responsibilities
Carrier Management: Conduct QBR meetings, manage allocations, and lead cost reduction initiatives with carriers
Tender & Pricing: Support national and global RFQs, collaborate with Tender Management, and provide selling rate guidance and benchmarks
Business Development: Review opportunity pipelines, bundle accounts, negotiate NACs, and increase FAK volumes in cooperation with countries
Operations & Performance: Ensure rate transparency, optimize costs, monitor carrier service levels and trade KPIs, and manage equipment flows
Negotiations: Negotiate vendor terms including space, free time, and ancillary charges, and identify match back opportunities
Projects & Collaboration: Manage special projects, support commercial channels and customer service teams, and provide continuous guidance
Compliance & Policies: Drive corporate compliance initiatives (e.g., FMC regulations, security programs) and ensure adherence to company policies
Qualifications & RequirementsIndustry Experience: 3+ years in the forwarding or shipping industry, with focus on operations or procurement
Leadership: Directly manage own team and indirectly supervise employees within the functional area
Industry Background: 3–5+ years’ experience in freight forwarding or shipping industry (operations and/or procurement) with tender and pricing expertise
Work Style: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable to fast-paced environments, and effective with internal and external stakeholders
Health & Safety: Capable of performing all essential job duties without posing a risk to self or others
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication in German and English; confident, proactive, and collaborative team player
Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
