At Eni, we are seeking an O&M Substation Engineer to join Plenitude Renewable US in Houston.

You will be responsible for providing advanced technical support for the operation and maintenance of utility-scale renewable energy assets, with a particular focus on high-voltage (HV) systems, electrical equipment and control systems, including SCADA and Power Plant Controllers (PPC). In this role, you will diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues affecting photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) facilities, helping to maximize asset reliability, availability, and performance. You will also ensure full compliance with applicable grid codes and regulatory requirements, including NERC and ERCOT standards.

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the electrical Balance of Plant (eBOP) across the US portfolio, with a focus on HV/MV systems, protection schemes and plant controls.
  • Support compliance teams in meeting NERC and ERCOT requirements, including audits, event analysis and reporting.

Detailed Responsibilities

HV systems and electrical components

  • Oversee and technically validate inspections, testing, and maintenance of HV/MV equipment, reviewing O&M reports to identify and track issues.
  • Assess electrical faults, support root cause analyses (RCAs), and define corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and optimize preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies.
  • Support improvements to electrical design, protection settings, and equipment reliability.
    Manage critical spare parts strategies based on asset criticality, lead times, and failure risks.
  • Coordinate with O&M contractors, OEMs, and internal teams to support maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

SCADA and Power Plant Controller

  • Monitor SCADA and PPC systems, ensuring proper control logic, setpoint management, and plant-level regulation.
  • Assess changes to SCADA/PPC systems that may affect performance or grid compliance.
  • Analyze plant data, alarms, and events to identify anomalies and performance issues.
  • Lead troubleshooting of SCADA, communications, and PPC-related issues, coordinating with OEMs and integrators
  • Support the testing and implementation of control system enhancements and grid compliance solutions.
  • Coordinate SCADA/PPC upgrades, testing, and commissioning activities with vendors and stakeholders.

Skills and experience required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant experience in the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, and/or BESS).
  • Experience in HV system operations and engineering.
  • Proven experience managing HV systems.
  • Strong understanding of service and O&M contracts.
  • Solid knowledge of photovoltaic and/or wind technologies.
  • Proficiency in cost tracking, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Fluency in English (required).
