Job Title:Nursing Program Coordinator (RN) - Perioperative

Scope of Position

The Perioperative Nursing Program Coordinator supports the education, professional development, and clinical advancement of perioperative nurses, surgical technologists, and allied health professionals. As a subject matter expert in perioperative nursing practice and evidence-based care, this individual serves as a key resource for clinical staff, leadership, and interdisciplinary teams.

The role requires strong collaboration with stakeholders across the organization, including operational leaders, clinicians, educators, quality teams, and frontline staff, to support initiatives that improve patient care, clinical outcomes, operational processes, and workforce development. The Perioperative Nursing Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, maintenance, and implementation of perioperative policies and standards across The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC). This role ensures that perioperative policies are evidence-based, aligned with regulatory and accreditation requirements, and consistent with professional best practices.

Position Summary

The Perioperative Nursing Program Coordinator collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders to develop, revise, educate, and implement perioperative policies and procedures throughout the medical center. This individual ensures that all policies are grounded in current evidence, regulatory requirements, and national professional standards. The Program Coordinator leads and supports initiatives focused on perioperative education, including residency and fellowship programs, student engagement, competency development, and professional practice advancement. In partnership with nursing leadership, the Program Coordinator conducts evidence-based literature reviews, develops and evaluates programs, performs audits, and supports quality improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient safety, clinical outcomes, and operational excellence. As an expert resource in perioperative nursing and evidence-based practice, the Program Coordinator provides consultation, guidance, and leadership on projects and initiatives that advance perioperative care across OSUWMC.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit. *Experience in relevant care setting preferred.
