We're Hiring full-time Nurse Assistants in Beautiful Salida (2.6% geographical differential provided)!

Full-time Sign-On Bonus: $1,000 ($500 paid at 6-months of service, $500 paid at 12-months of service). 

General Purpose

A Nurse Assistant provides services to individuals and families requiring assistance in dealing with behavioral health or substance abuse problems, including alcohol and/or drug abuse.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Level I

  • Performs basic physical care under guidance of Registered Nurse (RN). 
  • Refers to Nurse practitioners and RNs for follow up as needed.
  • Provides concrete support to clients and ensures safety plans are implemented.
  • Works as part of a team of Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, Clinicians and Behavioral Health Workers.
  • Documents all patient contacts and clinical information in the electronic health record system.
  • Participates in job-related training sessions and seminars.
  • Attends required staff meetings.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
  • Transports or arranges for transportation as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Level II (Perform above and following duties)

  • Performs basic physical care procedures such as taking vital signs, assisting with physical exams, baths, and feeding patients.
  • Participates in ongoing training and development to stay current with Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Medical Assistant (MA), or Certified Mental Health Technician (CMHT) skills and mental health knowledge. Maintain license and keep up to date.

Summary of Compensation

The base compensation represents the entry point of the range. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, education and performance. The salary is just one component of Solvista Health's total compensation package for employees. 

Pay Range begins with Nurse Assistant I and ends with Nurse Assistant II

  • Nurse Assistant I: $20.00 to $22.47 hourly
  • Nurse Assistant II: $22.48 to $23.92 hourly

For position openings where sign-on bonus is present

  • Any former employee who separated within the last 180 days is ineligible for said bonus option.
  • Internal applicants are not eligible to receive said sign-on bonus.

Level I and Level II

  • Knowledge of Mental Health/ Substance Use Disorders.

  • Ability to demonstrate and teach wellness life skills.

  • Ability to learn, teach, and implement evidence-based practice material and curriculum, as appropriate for specified clinical needs.

Education or Formal Training:

Level I

  • High School Diploma and ability to successfully demonstrate reading, writing, and speaking skills.
  • Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain BLS within 1 month of hire. 

Level II (Must meet the above requirements and following requirements)

  • Current QMAP, CNA, MA, EMT, or CMHT certification/registration required.

Additional Information:

  • Work Schedule: Three (3) 12-hour shifts per week.  
    • Day shifts (6:00am to 6:30pm) and Night shifts (6:00pm to 6:30am).  
      • Shift Differential for all night shifts.

Working Conditions and Other Conditions of Employment 

Working Environment: 

This job operates in a fast-paced, professional 24-hour-a-day environment. This position has high physical and mental requirements. It is highly interactive due to constant communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. And emotionally intense due to the exposure to trauma, severe mental illness, and sometime aggressive behavior.  The position may require travel to conferences, meetings and branch locations on a regular or intermittent basis. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. In the health center environment, there is potential for contact with blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases, as well as potential for contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals. 

Physical Requirements:  

  • 12-hour shifts  
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs or more 
  • Standing and walking for long periods of time during shifts 
  • Responding to emergencies quickly (codes, behavioral crises) 
  • Escorting or physically supporting patients when needed 
  • Ability to safely move patients off the floor from a fallen position 
  • Must be able to egress patients through exit doors safely 
  • Must be able to physically maneuver yourself through doors that do not have automatic door opener 
  • Be able to assist a client in ambulating on the unit or ability to push a patient in a wheelchair on unit or to hospital 
  • Fine motor skills  
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure 

Psychological and Mental Demands: 

  • High emotional demand due to caring for patients with severe mental illness (schizophrenia bipolar, etc) 
  • Exposure to suicidal ideation, self-harm, and trauma histories 
  • Strong emotional resilience 
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries 
  • Skill in therapeutic communication 

Conditions of Employment:

  • Annual TB, federally required drug screening, and Influenza vaccination or compliance with policy and procedure.
  • Required possession of a valid state driver's license.
  • Successful candidate must submit to and pass, post-offer drug screen, background check, and FBI Fingerprint check.
