To provide personalized, professional healthcare services to the residents of the Communities we serve.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Practice under the supervision of the Hospitalist.
 
2.    Perform physical examinations, laboratory tests and health screening measures. 

3.    Teach patients all aspects of health care.

4.    Counsel patients and families in family issues as appropriate.

5.    Assess and manage illness under guidelines approved by medical staff.

6.    Refer patients to other health care providers or community agencies when and as appropriate.

7.    Contribute to devising, executing, and periodically reviewing written policies/clinical protocols governing the services provided by the hospital. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1.    Physical strength to perform CPR (bed/floor), lift, push/pull 60-300 pounds with assistance) as often as 20 times per 8-12 hours and perform, constant walking, twisting, turning, and stretching maneuvers in patient care and use of patient care equipment.

2.    Physical strength to perform the following lifting tasks:

•    Floor to waist - 40 pounds
•    14” to waist - 50 pounds
•    Waist to shoulder - 20 pounds
•    Shoulder to overhead - 10 pounds
•    Carry 40 pounds for 30 feet
•    Push 40 pounds/force for 30 feet
•    Pull 40 pounds/force for 10 feet

3.    Keen mental faculties to observe patient status change.

4.    Communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.

5.    Emotional stability conductive to dealing with a high stress level for 8-12 hours at a time associated with caring for acute patients/SO, fast paced physical activity, rapidly changing patient conditions, emotional demands of patients and their families, and demands of maintaining effective working relationships with peers, managers, physician, and other health care workers.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

     Reports to the Hospitalist and Chief Operating Officer.     
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1.    Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program leading to a Masters Degree and/or meets the Advanced Nursing Practice  requirements set forth by the Illinois State Board of Nursing. 

2.    Must process appropriate certification and degree from a United States Institution of Higher Education.

3.    Must be licensed to practice in the State of Illinois prior to beginning employment. 

4.    Computer literacy required. 

INFECTION EXPOSURE RISK LEVEL

Category 1 – Maximal Risk – this job exposes you to potential blood, body fluids and tissues on a routine basis.  It is recommended that you get the Hepatitis B vaccine         

WORKING CONDITIONS

1.    Works in patient care areas where there are few discomforts due to dust, dirt, noise and the like. 

2.    Works with patients and may be exposed to contagious diseases or infectious materials, but potential for personal harm and injury is limited when proper safety and health precautions and equipment are used.
 

Skills Required
