Founding Node.js Backend Engineer

Remote Position. (Only for professionals based in Latam)

RYZ is looking for a Backend Engineer to work with one of our partners. We are looking for an engineer to join our team and help us unlock the full potential of our most critical asset: our data. You will have a direct impact on our revenue and deliver value to our customers by ensuring that our systems can handle the complex relationship between our entities.

You will be responsible for scaling our knowledge graph infrastructure and managing our time series data. You will also evaluate and improve our data storage and taxonomy systems.

What you will do:

- Enhance the current knowledge graph infrastructure to manage and derive insights from hundreds of millions of company-related data points, focusing on backend performance and scalability.

- Ensure optimal performance, observability, and alignment with customer demand needs of the application layer, by integrating insights with backend architecture.

- Evaluate and scale time series data storage systems to handle significantly increased throughput, addressing concurrency and transactional integrity.

- Utilize machine learning infrastructure to continuously refine taxonomy and derive relevant signals, improving data management and backend processes.

- Contribute to the strategic development and long-term vision for technical infrastructure, emphasizing robust backend design and architecture.

- Continuously seek improvements in system performance, scalability, and observability, focusing on backend efficiency and effective microservice communication.

Qualifications:

- Track record of building highly performant, highly observable, and highly scalable systems.

- 5+ years of experience building scalable distributed systems.

5+ years of backend engineering experience with a strong emphasis on Node.js (including Node/Express), utilizing modern web technologies such as TypeScript and MySQL.

- Solid architectural vision: You have strong intuition around long-term system design and continuous improvements to performance and scaling

- Strong backend engineering background with extensive experience in database management, including knowledge of transactions and SAGA patterns.

- Proficient in handling concurrency issues and inter-microservice communication.

- Experience with streaming technologies (Pub/Sub, Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc).

- Experience with various data storage solutions (SQL, NoSQL / key-value stores) preferably snowflake.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 2+ years of experience in an early-stage startup.

- Proven track record migrating systems in a changing environment that allows for little to no downtime to meet increasing demand.

- Be passionate about your craft and enjoy sharing knowledge (tech talks, articles, open source, etc.)

- Experience in working in Python/strongly typed languages.
