Key Responsibilities

Migration Strategy & Execution: Lead the planning, design, and hands-on migration of Node.js microservices and related infrastructure from Tanzu/PCF/TKGI to GKE.

GKE & Kubernetes Expertise: Design, deploy, and manage highly available, scalable, and secure GKE clusters. Implement best practices for Pod security, networking (e.g., VPC, GKE ingress, Service Mesh), and resource management.

Application Refactoring: Collaborate with application teams to adapt Node.js services for optimal performance and adherence to cloud-native best practices within the GKE environment.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain infrastructure using Terraform for provisioning and managing GCP resources, including networking, security components, and GKE clusters.

CI/CD Pipeline Enhancement: Implement and optimize continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines (e.g., using Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI) for automated build, test, and deployment of containerized Node.js applications to GKE.

Monitoring & Logging: Configure and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions, primarily using GCP's Operations suite (Cloud Monitoring/Logging/Trace), to ensure system reliability and performance post-migration.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Create comprehensive technical documentation for the new GKE environment, migration procedures, and operational runbooks, and mentor junior team members.

Required Qualifications (4-8 Years Experience)

  • Cloud & Platform Expertise
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with a major public cloud provider; strong preference for Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Must-Have GCP Services: GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud IAM, Cloud SQL/Firestore, Cloud Build, Artifact Registry, and Cloud Monitoring/Logging.
  • Deep expertise with Kubernetes deployment, scaling, security, and operations.
  • DevOps & Tooling
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications.
  • Knowledge of working in shell scripting (Bash), preferably from Windows systems.
  • Experience with Git and standard branching/merge strategies.
  • Application & Programming
  • Working knowledge of Node.js application architecture, package management (npm/yarn), and how to containerize them effectively for Kubernetes (Docker best practices).
  • Understanding of microservices architecture.
  • Desired Skills (Good to Have)
  • GCP Cloud certification.
  • Familiarity with container security scanning tools and vulnerability management in a Kubernetes context.
  • Experience with advanced Kubernetes networking concepts like NetworkPolicy, CNI plugins, and exposure to service discovery tools.
  • Prior experience specifically with the Tanzu platform (PCF/TKGI) is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases in a cloud context (e.g., Cloud SQL, MongoDB).

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
