You’ll lead our Guest Experience and volunteer Build Team, oversee Groups ministry, and provide pastoral care — all while collaborating across the church to create environments where people take meaningful next steps in their faith.What You’ll DoNewlands Groups
- Oversee the Group Build Team and leaders, including coaching and communication with coordinators
- Input and organize current semester group data; archive previous semesters
- Plan and execute group events each semester
- Create and post sermon discussion guides during Groups seasons
Guest Experience
- Build and maintain relationships with Guest Experience volunteers at all levels (Greeters, Ushers, Connect Central Hosts, Parking Team, and Weekend Prayer Team)
- Recruit, teach, train, and mentor volunteers to support the Guest Experience Ministry
- Lead, plan, and execute Guest Experience for weekend services and special events (e.g., Churchwide Baptism, Communion, Presbytery, Night of Worship)
- Ensure prompt and accurate reporting of service logistics (attendance, altar response, and offering counts)
- Coordinate First Time Guest and New Believer follow-up
- Collaborate across departments (Worship, Kids, Facilities, Café, Security, etc.) to create a welcoming atmosphere
Build Team / Next Steps
- Onboard all volunteers onto the Build Team
- Lead Build Team Directors, Coordinators, and Coaches for weekend service teams
- Administer Planning Center Services scheduling in conjunction with Build Team Directors
Pastoral
- Provide pastoral care including biblical counseling, hospital visits, weddings, and funerals
- Provide active leadership during weekend services
- 3–5 years of ministry experience, ideally in Guest Experience, Groups, or volunteer development
- Bachelor’s degree in biblical, theological, or ministry studies preferred
- Strong team-building and leadership skills with demonstrated experience in mediation and conflict resolution
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strategic thinker who stays aligned with leadership on major decisions and adapts well in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, Slack, and Basecamp
- CPR Certification preferred or willingness to complete upon hire
- Ministry Safe / Sexual Abuse Prevention training required
- A growing personal relationship with Christ and alignment with our mission and values
- Full-time, exempt / Pastoral Staff — on-site in Katy, TX
- Sunday–Thursday schedule (9–5 M–Th; 7–2 Su; additional events required)
- Reports to Pastor Elaine Fisher
- All staff are expected to be or become members of Newlands Church

Skills Required
- 3-5 years of ministry experience (ideally Guest Experience, Groups, or volunteer development)
- Ministry Safe / Sexual Abuse Prevention training
