Position/Assignment Purpose :
Reporting to the Director, Manufacturing Engineering, you will play an important role in managing new product introduction by dealing with EMS and RWS development teams.
As a New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer, you will be working in the broader Manufacturing Team to manage new product introduction, drive advancement in manufacturing technology and process, optimize existing production for quality and cost improvement, explore new technology and process development & standardizations.
Key Accountabilities/Statement of Work :
- Utilizing skills in manufacturing and sustaining engineering while interfacing directly with EMS factory and RWS development teams to effectively execute process and change control.
- Providing manufacturing requirement inputs on DFx issues to RWS design engineering for manufacturability improvement during design stage as well as mass production stage.
- Taking the initiative for timely resolution of issues, leading meetings effectively and focusing on resolution. Effective interface between OEM and the factory.
- Securing with each RWS Program Manager that new products are industrially ready for mass production in our factory (manufacturability, testability, reparability, documentation etc.) as per current processes.
- Introduction of new products, from design through prototyping to volume production:
1. Participating in the development team as the manufacturing expert.
2. Coordinating prototype builds and providing input to the development team on DFx issues.
3. Maintenance of documentation and BOM data.
4. Generating and managing implementation of engineering changes into manufacturing.
5. Technical liaising between Rolling Wireless R&D and contract manufacturers.
Researching and bringing in new technology (all aspects) for team review and selection.
Working with Marketing and R&D team on concepts and identifying, developing, industrializing, and documenting the required advanced/new technology processes to the level that can get introduced to the EMS factories and can support product industrialization NPI needs.
- Working with R&D to ensure all products are designed to be manufacturable at the highest yield, lowest cost.
- Identifying active divergent manufacturing solutions and defining and demonstrating improved alternatives that could support cost reduction, quality improvement and reliability increase.
- Ensuring all work is documented to high standard including ISO9000.
Required Education and Experience :
Academic Qualification: Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
Required Skills and Competencies :
Electronic assembly manufacturing, Wireless technology, SMT process, Electronic test process, Supply Chain, lean manufacturing, Poka Yoke, 5S, quality tools such as 6 Sigma, SPC, FMEA...
Skills Required
- Academic Qualification in Electronic Engineering or related discipline
- Experience in electronic assembly manufacturing
- Familiarity with Wireless technology and SMT process
- Knowledge of quality improvement tools like 6 Sigma and FMEA
