The Wealth Management & Insurance division covers three businesses in all Santander Group countries: Insurance, Asset Management and Private Banking. We work to provide the best solutions to our clients in these three businesses in the 10 countries where we are present.

THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE

The Wealth Management & Insurance division is looking for a New Businesses Global Manager based out of Madrid office.

Insurance is a strategic pillar of Santander Group, with more than 20M active policies and an annual profit contribution of c.€1,500M. After years of double-digit growth, our ambition is to double the business within the next five years.

In this context, the Growth team is seeking a New Businesses Global Manager to lead the identification, development, and execution of new business opportunities at an international level, creating value for shareholders and customers, and supporting Santander’s transformation into the fastest-growing insurance business across the countries where it operates.

We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, be responsible for:

  • Leading the identification of business opportunities (with a strong focus on Life, Savings and P&C), developing their equity story, operating model, and implementation roadmap.
  • Managing and prioritizing a global portfolio of opportunities at different maturity stages, maximizing captured value for the business.
  • Directing analytical workstreams and cross-functional projects, ensuring robust business cases, data-driven analysis, and KPI tracking.
  • Collaborating across local markets, joint ventures, and global units, positively influencing stakeholders at multiple levels, including C-level.
  • Ensuring execution and scalability of new initiatives, overcoming operational, regulatory, or commercial barriers.
  • Fostering a data-driven management culture, establishing reporting and monitoring frameworks to measure real impact on growth.
  • Acting as a mentor and reference for the analyst team, supporting their professional development and alignment with global objectives.
  • Regularly reporting progress and results to the Insurance Executive Committee and the Head of Growth.

Professional Experience

  • Designing and executing growth strategies specifically in Life, Savings and P&C insurance (Preferred).
  • Deep expertise in product development, distribution models, and profitability drivers across different insurance lines. (Required)
  • International experience within complex corporate matrix structures, leading transformation and growth projects. (Required)
  • Influencing and engaging high-level stakeholders, including executive committees. (Required)
  • Team management and mentoring, fostering talent development and building a collaborative high-performance culture. (Required)
  • 7–10 years of professional experience, with at least 3–5 years in strategy, business development, or growth-related roles within insurance. (Required)

Education

  • University degree (Required)
  • MBA or postgraduate studies (Preferred)

Languages

  • High proficiency in English and Spanish (Required)
  • Portuguese (Preferred)

Hard Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of Life, Savings and P&C products, regulations, and market dynamics. (Required)
  • Deep knowledge of insurance products, regulations, and market trends. (Required)
  • Strong analytical skills and executive storytelling capabilities. (Required)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. (Required)
  • Proactive, innovative, and execution-driven, with the ability to deliver practical results at speed. (Required)
  • Experience working in multicultural teams and adapting to diverse contexts. (Required)
