The Network Systems Administrator will advance the capabilities of the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) by providing maintenance and service support for operational systems. NAVOCEANO is located at NASA’s Stennis Space Center, and the work is performed on-site. The admin will be responsible for the proper function of operating systems and software hosted on government networks, both physical and virtual. This includes site surveys, device installations, cabling, and troubleshooting with end users.
Job Duties:
- Establishment of user accounts and user password changes
- System troubleshooting and resolution
- Technical Documentation (installation and configuration guides, architecture diagrams, test reports, cybersecurity, status reports)
- Cybersecurity analysis and checklists in accordance with DoD, DoN, and NAVOCEANO policies, processes, and guidelines
- Workstation operating system and application installations, updates, patches, upgrades, and configuration
- Physical installation of computer systems, network equipment, and peripherals, including creating and running network cables
- Conducting Pre-installation Check Out (PICO) activities, such as Cisco IOS and baseline configuration provisioning for life-cycle replacement (LCR) components/appliances
- Conducting DISA STIG checks
- Basic provisioning of network change requests (NCR) to support computer system moves within the LAN. Troubleshooting connection issues
- Conduct work as an integrated team member in deployment activities for LAN LCR components/appliances
- Performing network appliance operating system loads and configuration
Job Requirements:
- Active Secret Clearance with T5 (formerly known as SSBI) investigation
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or ability to acquire it within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: 7+ years
- Education: HS Diploma/GED or 5+ years with Associate's Degree or 3+ years with Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, including Smart Management and Satellite
- Familiarity with DISA STIG checklists
- Experience with VMWare products (VSphere, ESXi) for system administration
- Experience working in disconnected or high-latency environments
- Security+ CE or comparable certification
- Documentation skills with Microsoft Office suite and Adobe products
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
