Job DescriptionAshburn Consulting is seeking a detail-oriented Network Performance Engineer to join our federal client’s infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the high availability, security, and peak performance of a federal client’s global network architecture. You will leverage specialized monitoring tools to gain deep visibility into network traffic and implement modern security frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the Riverbed Steelhead suite to perform comprehensive network flow analysis and proactive monitoring.
- Identify bottlenecks and optimize application delivery using AppResponse and NetProfiler.
- Manage and maintain SASE architectures to ensure secure, cloud-native access for all users.
- Infrastructure Support: Maintain and troubleshoot a diverse network environment consisting of Juniper and Cisco hardware.
- Use NetScout and NetIM to provide high-level reporting on network health and infrastructure availability.
Qualifications
Required Experience
· Riverbed Steelhead Central (2+ Years): Hands-on experience with Network Flow Analysis and monitoring, specifically using:
- AppResponse ARX
- NetIM
- NetProfiler
· SASE (1+ Year): Practical experience with Secure Access Service Edge platforms such as Netskope or Zscaler. Preferred Experience
· Juniper Networking (2+ Years): Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Juniper switches and routers.
· Cisco Networking (2+ Years): Solid foundation in Cisco IOS and enterprise-level networking.
· NetScout (2+ Years): Experience using NetScout for packet-level analysis and performance management. Professional Attributes
· Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate complex network data into actionable insights.
· Security-First Approach: Deep understanding of how performance and security intersect in a modern work-from-anywhere environment.
· Collaborative: Strong communication skills and team player to work across IT and Security teams.
· A strong understanding of networking and security principles.
· Engineer with multiple technical skillsets that will enable the candidate to be a strong contributor to the team with various network engineering projects and tasks.
