Job Description

Network / Infrastructure Consultant
Dublin, Ireland
o Server Hardware Knowledge– IBM, HP, Dell - Must
o Linux OS;
o Scripting;
o CDN experience
o CCNA- must
o BGP knowledge - must
Responsibilities:-
· Experience with Content Delivery Networks and Internet Peering strategies.
· Work in teams to deploy and maintain new data center infrastructure
· Understand and debug network, hardware, and Linux OS related issues
· Perform deep dives deep on technical issues within the DC
· Perform server upgrades, integration, rebuilds and other projects
· Understanding of server hardware technologies relative to content delivery performance and capacity
· Experience to capture and analyze traffic.
· Experience in Queue Management for tasks, incidents and vendors.
· Experience in fiber-optic technology including cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, and optical transport technologies.
· Experience in analyzing situations, troubleshooting, systems and tools, and problem solving.
· Programming and scripting capabilities are desired.
· Excellent communication skills, should be able to work with service providers and colocation facilities around the world.
· Ability to work within a global team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with limited supervision.
· Provide cross data center support and identify potentially larger issues, displaying effective communication when something is identified
· Work with internal hardware and vendors to help resolve complex technical issues
· Understand and be able to update and develop scripting and smaller sets of software
· Identify and help create documentation for the global data center knowledge base
· Track issues and analyze data looking for trends and systemic issues
· Help identify specifications for tools that facilitate deployment and decommissioning of server hardware at scale
· Display an understanding of organizational structure and capability to work with cross-functional teams on a given project
· Solid understanding of Linux and hardware systems support in an Internet operations environment
· Understanding, troubleshooting skills and resolution skills on the optical
network infrastructure devices, fiber cables, Optical interfaces

· Creating new RMA requests through OEM vendors
Must Have -
Cisco, networks certified - like CCNA/P
Should have good experience on HP/ IBM server hardware.
7+ years of technical experience, preferably in a large-scale data center environment
Strong working and troubleshooting knowledge of routing protocols like - BGP
Solid understanding of Linux and hardware systems support in an Internet operations environment
Experience modifying and developing in Python, SQL and/or shell scripting
Experience managing multiple projects within the same time schedule
Solid understanding of enterprise level networking and storage equipment installs
Should have an understanding of out-of-band/lights-out server communication methods, such as IPMI and serial console
Schedule and perform network devices deployments, testing, and repair.
Proactively contribute to support documentation, automation and processes as they evolve.
Perform detailed troubleshooting remotely, engage and manage vendors as needed to resolve hardware issues.
Engage and or escalate as needed to troubleshoot out-of-service nodes.
Participate in on call activities and follow escalation process to support the infrastructure 24/7

Skills Required

  • CCNA or equivalent Cisco network certification
  • 7+ years of technical experience, preferably in a large-scale data center environment
  • Strong knowledge of BGP and routing protocols
  • Solid Linux and hardware systems support experience in an Internet operations environment
  • Experience with IBM, HP, or Dell server hardware
  • Experience modifying or developing Python, SQL, and/or shell scripts
  • Experience with Content Delivery Networks and Internet peering strategies
  • Experience installing enterprise-level networking and storage equipment
