Network Engineering Manager

HOW BEING A NETWORK MANAGER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT?

As a NETWORK MANAGER supporting the customer and team, you will be trusted to manage, lead, and solve complex network issues while delivering outstanding customer service. In this position you will lead a team that uses technology to solve challenges and provide resolution.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Experience leading, managing, and overseeing a network team.
  • Provide technical leadership for the network team for projects and issue problem resolution.
  • Provide mentoring and leadership to less experienced engineers via tech talks and hands-on assistance.
  • Must be available for after-hours maintenances and problem resolution.
  • Manage critical outage situations and act as liaison between the network team and the supported program.
  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, content filtering, VoIP, Video Teleconferencing, etc.
  • Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
  • Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
  • Prepares or ensures that appropriate documentation exists.
  • Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short-range and long-range planning.
  • Design network or portion of network that includes selection and recommendation of hardware and software packages.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Competence with MS Visio to maintain network design documentation and develop design plans to be populated among various teams and stakeholders.

Required Experience

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or another related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the technology field.
  • Proven capability to lead engineering teams on complex deployments.
  • Excellent ability to provide clear and concise oral and written communication; capability to interface at multiple levels and successfully present technical information.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise network design and sustainment, to include routing and switching.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid in-office/virtual team environment as well as independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vendor certification from Cisco or Juniper is desired but not required.
  • Experience with a scripting language such as Perl, Javascript, Python, etc. is desired but not required.
  • Firewall configuration and management experience are desired.
  • Experience with firewalls from Juniper, Cisco, or Palo Alto is desired.
