We’re seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in supporting and evolving our enterprise network infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for designing and implementing system-level network architectures, enforcing security boundaries, and supporting datacenter virtualization. This position requires deep expertise in CAN/MAN/LAN environments, packet capture and analysis tools, and a strong command of the TCP/IP protocol stack, routing and switching protocols, stateful firewalls, and L3/L4 access control mechanisms.
Responsibilities:
- Cisco IOS, CatOS, NxOS, filter and access control, Ciscoworks, TACACS+, ASA, FWSM, HP Openview, Cisco routers, Cisco Switches, F5/Cisco load balancers, Infiniband, Juniper, FiberChannel (FC) SAN, and VPN (IPSEC)
- Physical installation and configuration and troubleshooting of network routers, switches, load balancers and security devices.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stack and routing and switching protocols.
- Strong working knowledge of L2/L3 protocols.
- Strong working knowledge of stateful firewalls, and L3 access controls.
- Working knowledge of Atlassian Tool Suite.
- Able to support on-call requirements.
- Able to work in live call environment and utilize remedy and/or other ticketing system to track tasking.
- Virtualization products; VMWare and Solaris containers.
Requirements:
Level 1-
- At least five (5) years of experience as a NE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional NE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree for a total of 10 years experience.
- Must have datacenter network design and architecture experience to include installation and configuration of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and IPSEC virtual private networks.
Level 2-
- At least eight (8) years of experience as a NE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional NE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree for a total of 10 years experience.
- Must have datacenter network design and architecture experience to include installation and configuration of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and IPSEC virtual private networks.
Level 3-
- At least twelve (12) years of experience as a NE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional NE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree for a total of 10 years experience.
- Must have datacenter network design and architecture experience to include installation and configuration of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and IPSEC virtual private networks.
Desired Experience:
- A strong understanding of High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
- Hands-on experience with Infiniband and low-latency interconnects in HPC clusters
- Familiarity with RDMA, QoS tuning, and network fabric optimization for compute-intensive workloads
- Working knowledge of FiberChannel (FC) SAN, iSCSI, and data throughput tuning
- Experience integrating storage networks with HPC compute nodes
Security Clearance:
- A current government clearance, background investigation, and polygraph are required.

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00
Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
