Network Engineer

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
Network Engineer for DTO/Network Services/Network Integration. Provides installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of network devices in the Local Area, Wide Area and Metropolitan Area Networks. 
DAILY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will test new and modify network configurations hardware and software. Will provide network consulting services to other state agencies. Analyze data to provide solutions to complex problems and assist in resolving issues. Will fulfill work orders from the Service Desk. Maintains services, applications, and operating systems for network devices and ensures network devices are maintained to a high level of security. Candidate must possess experience with Cisco. Juniper experience is a plus. Candidate must have proficient oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work on projects individually or part of a team. Must possess a valid Class-D Driver’s license. Will be required to pass a SLED (SC State Law Enforcement Division) Criminal Background Check prior to employment. Candidate must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Candidate will be required to be on-call 24 hours a day on a rotating schedule for the length of the contract. Candidate must be able to be on-site, if needed, within 30 minutes of being contacted. Candidate must be able to climb or crawl into confined spaces and be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Some in-state travel may be required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma and 6 years of direct experience in the required skills listed above or an Associate’s Degree and 4 years of direct experience in the skills above or a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of direct experience in the required skills above.
