Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining, supporting, designing, and evaluating the LAN, WAN, and all hardware and software related to the network, and troubleshooting and monitoring network usage, security, and server peripherals to ensure the smooth functioning of the Firm's technology network.

MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Maintain, upgrade, and document all LAN/WAN infrastructure, hardware and software systems including servers, routers, switches, cabling, server operating systems, diagnostic software, and communications/telecommunications systems, and backup hardware/software in compliance with firm and industry standards.
  • Ensure accurate system information for all servers including the firm's e-mail and archive systems, security devices, communications systems, and network management tools.
  • Ensure off-site storage of critical data including replication and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Maintain and provide support of all firm-related network software including the virtual server environment, building access systems, and VoIP telephone system.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and document network hardware/software problems.
  • Handle escalated Tier 2 Helpdesk support calls and operate as a backup to Tier 1 calls or Desktop Services as needed.
  • Document all support incidents in the firm's Incident Management System.

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Thorough knowledge of server technologies, virtual server platforms, and VoIP.
  • Must have complete understanding of networking principles and the application of local and wide area network protocols/topology acquired through a bachelor's degree in either Computer Science, Information Systems or Systems Security. Equivalent certification studies through coursework and work experience is acceptable.
  • Five years of progressively responsible work experience in a multiplatform environment.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective relationships with shareholders, attorneys, clients, and staff in person, and by e-mail and telephone.
  • Ability to demonstrate expert knowledge of server, desktop, and laptop computer operations and detailed understanding of Storage Area Networks and disk backup solutions.
