Nautilus is growing, and we’re looking for a newsletter editor and writer to join our team of creative editors, writers, and artists. Our newsletter currently has close to 500,000 active subscribers, and we’re expanding. Work remotely and be part of a small and collaborative crew who love to share inspirational ideas and bring them to life on our website, in our print magazine, and through our newsletter. Established 11 years ago in New York City, Nautilus explores the beauties and insights of science. We ask big questions and present authoritative answers. We bring science to life through narratives with original voices and perspectives and engaging visuals. We show how science informs our lives and cultures.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Write, curate, and evolve the Nautilus newsletter in tune with its audience, growth, and goals
- Stay abreast of latest developments in science–through daily reading in science literature and news–as well as the latest in newsletter and email best practices
- Own reporting and analysis for newsletter performance and readers
- Recommend strategies to consistently improve newsletter offerings
- Contribute fresh and compelling writing and editing for the website and print magazine
- Ensure quality and alignment with voice, mission, strategy, values, and brand
What We’re Looking For
- A passion and knack for connecting with readers
- An interest in and pulse on science, culture, and narrative journalism–and wide-ranging curiosity
- Several years of journalism experience, ideally in magazine journalism
- Journalistic newsletter experience
- Independent thinkers who love a good laugh
