Job DescriptionBrief Description:
The National Account Director – Emisar / Optum / United is responsible for developing and managing all aspects of the relationship with the Emisar, Optum Rx and United Healthcare. The National Account Director will represent the entire Jazz portfolio of products and be responsible for ensuring appropriate market access within assigned accounts. The National Account Director serves as the key Market Access point of contact for Emisar, Optum Rx and United Healthcare, across Commercial and Medicare books of business for Jazz Pharmaceuticals. The National Account Director will model the Jazz core values of integrity, passion, collaboration, innovation, and pursuit of excellence.
Essential Functions
- Execute on market access strategies to ensure appropriate access for the Jazz portfolio of products within Commercial and Medicare books of business at Emisar, Optum Rx, and United Healthcare.
- Establish broad and deep relationships within target accounts, with key decision-makers/influencers (e.g., pharmacy directors, medical directors, clinical decision makers) who impact coverage and reimbursement decisions.
- Positively influence decision-makers, policies, guidelines, and contracts to facilitate timely and clinically appropriate coverage, access, and reimbursement for Jazz products.
- Create, maintain, and execute stakeholder engagement plans for all target accounts.
- Represent Jazz and its products at industry events and conferences to engage PBM and Health Plan industry stakeholders.
- Create opportunities for live engagement with Emisar, Optum Rx and United Healthcare to deliver payer value propositions and business updates.
- Execute market access strategies to ensure appropriate access to Jazz’s portfolio of products within target accounts.
- Collaborate with Regional Account Directors (RADs) and field sales colleagues to leverage access opportunities and overcome access obstacles for Jazz products.
- Strategically cultivate and leverage a broad network of relationships with key managed markets individuals within target accounts (e.g., pharmacy, medical, clinical contacts, contracting directors/chiefs), and industry organizations.
- Coordinate all Jazz activities and resources with accounts and serve as the single point of contact.
- Collaborate strategically across multiple internal stakeholders (Sales, Marketing, Legal, Access Services, and PVO/HEOR) to address access challenges, execute market access strategies, and ensure clinically appropriate patients have access to our medicines.
- Conduct quarterly business reviews of the market access landscape and opportunities with appropriate sales colleagues in each business unit.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure all applicable Jazz reimbursement support services are optimized the accounts as appropriate.
- Ensure all relevant internal stakeholders, reporting tools, and reimbursement support programs are kept up to date with Jazz product access and reimbursement information for targeted accounts.
- Identify opportunities to demonstrate or provide value to all stakeholders and work with internal and external partners to develop and execute these opportunities.
- Anticipate potential obstacles and bring together all appropriate stakeholders to proactively develop mitigation plans.
- Leverage all applicable marketing tools and resources to educate external stakeholders on Jazz products, associated diseases, and the value these products provide.
- Create and maintain detailed strategic account plans for Emisar, Optum Rx and UHC accounts and present these plans during regular business reviews with senior management.
- Mobilize resources and senior management support to capitalize on new opportunities and/or address unforeseen threats.
- Be the subject matter expertise for all aspects of your targeted accounts to inform Market Access, brand strategy development and decision making.
- Strategically negotiate discount agreements in alignment with Jazz’s contracting guidelines and in compliance with applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
Desired Skills and Experience
- At least 10 years of pharma/biopharmaceutical experience and 4 years of proven success as an Account Manager calling on National commercial and/or government and/or Medicaid payers.
- At least two years of experience in a direct management or team leadership role, either field or headquarters based.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a network of relationships with key individuals within targeted accounts.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead cross-organizational projects and teams with and without direct management authority.
- Demonstrate an understanding of healthcare, payers, formulary/PDL development, coverage and reimbursement issues, and compliance laws and regulations.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the full and complete base pay range is:
$224,000.00 - $336,000.00Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis.
At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz’s Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
