We are looking for a talented and technically adept Narrative Designer to join the Merge Mansion team. In this role, you'll shape unforgettable storytelling experiences that truly captivate players and keep them coming back for more. Joining our team, you'll implement narrative elements, design impactful cutscenes, and bring diverse characters to life through carefully crafted dialogue and cinematic moments. Your work will help weave together the technical and creative aspects of game storytelling to create seamless and engaging experiences for our players.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting on the development of engaging story content, maintaining narrative consistency for the project, and ensuring high quality narrative implementation
  • Designing and implementing narrative elements, including cutscenes, dialogue, and character animations in Unity
  • Collaborating with content or game designers to implement story content using in-house tools
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation for narrative systems and implementation processes
  • Assisting in optimizing narrative content through good documentation and flows
  • Actively contributing to narrative design discussions and brainstorming sessions
  • Supporting Quality Assurance and bug fixing for narrative content and features
  • Assisting in managing localization needs and requirements
  • Collaborating with multiple disciplines effectively including art, UX, engineering, and design

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of game industry experience as a Narrative Designer, with a willingness to learn and further develop your design and technical skills
  • Strong knowledge of game engines, particularly Unity, and experience creating in-game cinematic cutscenes using Unity tools
  • Advanced proficiency with Timeline, Animation Controllers, and Object Animations, as well as experience with Unity's Addressables and Prefabs
  • Ability to write engaging dialogues for diverse character voices with a creative approach
  • Experience implementing narrative components such as audio, VFX, character animations, and props
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows
  • Deep understanding of cinematography and the ability to visualize narrative scenes and requirements prior to implementation
  • Proficiency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for games and crafting compelling narrative experiences that engage and retain players
