Salary: Level 9 Step 1 ($108,595.50 annually)

Reporting to the Implementation Manager and working closely with the Senior Negotiator for Nän Käk (Land and Environment), the incumbent provides evidence-based research, analysis and strategic policy advice in support of TH Final Agreement implementation related to lands, resources, fish, wildlife and environmental stewardship. The incumbent reviews and analyzes territorial and federal legislation, policies, regulations and initiatives to ensure alignment with TH rights, interests and Final Agreement obligations. The incumbent supports the Senior Negotiator (serving as back-up when required), and coordinates and facilitates land- and environment-related meetings, committees and working groups. The incumbent represents and advances TH rights, interests and positions in discussions with other governments, regulatory bodies, industry representatives and other stakeholders.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
- An advanced post-secondary degree (Master’s or PhD) in law, natural sciences, business, environmental studies, geography or related field, along with three years of relevant work experience; an equivalent combination of education, knowledge, experience and skills may be considered.
- Experience working on land and resources and/or fish and wildlife projects.
- Experience leading policy, legislation and/or research projects.
- Experience participating in intergovernmental or cross-agency engagements and working groups.
- Experience in stakeholder management, dispute resolution and negotiations.
- Excellent research, analysis and project management skills.
- Knowledge of Yukon First Nation governance structures and processes.
- Knowledge of the Umbrella Final Agreement, TH Final Agreement and TH Self-Government Agreement.
Assets:
- Knowledge of TH values, traditions and culture.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and within a team environment.
- Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
- Strong written, visual and oral communication skills, with an ability to communicate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in Government is a First Nation band government based in Dawson City, Yukon, Canada. Its mission is to work together, speak with one voice, and serve Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in citizens through a variety of programs, services, and initiatives designed to support the community and the descendants of the Hän-speaking people who have lived along the Yukon River.
