Building cross-functional engineering teams that take ownership and crave more means we’re always on the lookout for talented people who bring passion and creativity to every project. Our culture embraces openness, acts with respect, shows grit & guts and combines employment with enjoyment.
Project – the aim you’ll have
We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with strong VMware and NetApp expertise to join a Dutch engineering team delivering private cloud services to government and regulated-market customers in the Netherlands. The client is a managed services provider operating that platform.
You will work on a large production environment, covering both day-to-day operations and larger infrastructure projects, in close cooperation with the client’s engineers in the Netherlands. We are looking for someone who takes ownership naturally: able to pick up a bigger problem or project, propose how to approach it, and carry it through to the end.
Role – how you’ll contribute
- Administer, maintain and troubleshoot the VMware (vSphere / ESXi) environment – vCenter, clusters, HA/DRS, vMotion
- Manage and maintain NetApp storage – ONTAP administration, volume and LUN provisioning, NFS/iSCSI/CIFS, replication and snapshots
- Run larger infrastructure projects and resolve complex technical problems independently
- Handle day-to-day operational work: incidents, changes and service requests
- Own capacity, performance and lifecycle management of the virtualisation and storage platforms, including patching and firmware upgrades
- Run backup and restore operations, and verify that recovery actually works
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and runbooks
- Take part in the stand-by rota
- Work directly with the client’s engineers in the Netherlands, including knowledge sharing in both directions
Expectations – the experience you need
- 10+ years in IT infrastructure support and projects
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere / ESXi) in production, including upgrades and lifecycle management
- Hands-on experience with NetApp ONTAP in production
- Ability to troubleshoot across the stack – compute, storage and network together – rather than within a single layer
- SAN and Fibre Channel
- Linux and Windows system administration
- Backup and restore in a production environment
- Scripting for automation (PowerShell or Python)
- Experience working with ticketing and change management tooling (ServiceNow or equivalent)
- Willingness to take part in a stand-by rota and to travel to the Netherlands for onboarding and knowledge sharing
- English at C1 – the working language with the client
How you work with others:
- Takes ownership: picks up a problem or project, decides how to approach it, and sees it through without needing to be chased for progress
- Keeps people informed: says where something stands, flags a delay early, and does not let a problem go quiet
- Builds working relationships at a distance – most contact with the Dutch team is remote, so trust comes from reliability and clear communication rather than corridor conversations
Additional skills – the edge you have
- OpenStack or Proxmox, or a genuine willingness to learn both
- VMware vSAN or Site Recovery Manager
- Backup tooling such as Veeam
- Infrastructure as code (Ansible, Terraform)
- VMware (VCP) or NetApp (NCDA) certification
- Any level of Dutch
What we offer:
- Flexible and remote cooperation options
- International projects with leading global clients
- Travels related to international projects
- Non-corporate atmosphere
- Access* to language classes
- Access* to knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Access* to private healthcare and life insurance
- Access* to multisport card
*The availability and terms of individual benefits may vary depending on the chosen form of cooperation.
Skills Required
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure support and projects
- Strong production experience administering VMware vSphere and ESXi, including upgrades and lifecycle management
- Production experience administering NetApp ONTAP
- Ability to troubleshoot across compute, storage, and network infrastructure
- Experience with SAN and Fibre Channel
- Linux and Windows system administration experience
- Production backup and restore experience
- Automation scripting using PowerShell or Python
- Experience with ticketing and change management tools such as ServiceNow
- Willingness to participate in a standby rota
- Willingness to travel to the Netherlands for onboarding and knowledge sharing
- English proficiency at C1 level
- OpenStack or Proxmox experience, or willingness to learn both
- VMware vSAN or Site Recovery Manager experience
- Backup tooling experience such as Veeam
- Infrastructure as code experience with Ansible or Terraform
- VMware VCP or NetApp NCDA certification
- Dutch language skills
