Job Overview: 
  • Role: We are seeking a Data Architect specialising in Microsoft Fabric to support a key data initiative for a major international insurance organisation based in London.
  • Work Location: London, hybrid
  • Indicative Salary Range: £60,000-£75,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design end-to-end data solutions on Microsoft Fabric (lakehouse, pipelines, semantic models, Power BI) aligned with business use cases
  • Support the implementation of Data Mesh and Data Product approaches
  • Define and standardise data lifecycle processes
  • Collaborate with governance teams to implement metadata, lineage, and data quality frameworks using Microsoft Purview
  • Contribute to the definition of the Data Target Operating Model (Data TOM), including roles, governance, and domain responsibilities
  • Support the design of DataOps and platform operations, including deployment, monitoring, reliability, and performance management
  • Support the automation of data activities using AI
  • Ensure alignment with FSI regulatory expectations (data governance, auditability, security, GDPR)
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions and data products
  • Contribute to architecture governance and design reviews, ensuring consistency and reuse across domains
  • Build relationships and networks with key client stakeholders through regular on-site presence at their offices in the City of London

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Around 4-6 years’ experience in data architecture, data engineering, or solution design roles
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (lakehouse, pipelines, semantic layer)
  • Strong understanding of modern data architectures (Lakehouse, Data Mesh, Data Fabric)
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and lifecycle management
  • Experience with data modelling and data product concepts
  • Demonstrated interest in data strategy, operating models, and governance topics
  • Experience delivering data solutions within enterprise environments
  • Exposure to data platform operations (monitoring, SLAs, incident management)
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills and ability to work in complex, regulated environments
  • High level of empathy and strong team-working attitude
