The Moving Consultant role will be responsible for managing the full household goods moving process, partnering with corporate clients throughout their relocation process and will be responsible for ensuring client satisfaction during the move.

Purpose of Role:

To accurately assess and record an assignee’s requirements in order to effect a stress-free, high quality move, at agreed profit levels.

The Senior Move Consultant should be a team expert with regards to product / service knowledge and delivery. They should have superior knowledge of Sterling Lexicon, our procedures, the industry and moving process in general.

They should play an active role in inspiring other members of the team.

They should provide both formal training and informal coaching for new starters. They should act at all times as an example for other team members.

The Senior Consultant should be an effective ambassador for Sterling Lexicon, able to meet with accounts or agents.

A Senior Move Consultant should be in a position where the Operations Director can call upon them for assistance with some of their day to day role responsibilities, including assistance with pricing and they may be asked to manage other members of the team.

To accurately assess and record an assignee’s requirements in order to effect a stress-free, high quality move, at agreed profit levels.

Responsibilities:

1.) Move Management

  • Manage services from inquiry to closing.
  • Obtain quotes and generate RFQs required for completion of individual, group or account moves.
  • To present our offer of service to prospective clients and successfully convert enquiries into bookings at agreed margins and profit
  • To arrange and book all services connected with removal by air (standard, consolidated and free domicile) or by sea (FCL, LCL, groupage, WIS). Moves may be on a DTD, DTP or PTD basis.
  • To arrange efficient and prompt clearance and delivery of international import and export shipments. Completing customs declarations, obtain customs documentation from shippers and ensure its delivery to destination agent in good time.
  • Liaising with sub-contractors, customs brokers, customers and operational departments to set up delivery or arranging storage as required.
  • Job rating, route selection & booking shipments direct with carriers, consolidators or agents
  • Ensuring that close communication with customers and accounts is in order to meet all account specific and move logistical needs and keep them fully advised of progress.
  • Build strong relationships with other departments (sales, operations, claims, accounts etc.) and Work closely with team to ensure that all problems are resolved speedily and to the full satisfaction of the client.
  • Ensure that gross profit margins are met
  • Timely quoting & invoicing on the services to clients
  • Actively manage file to Sterling Lexicon & FIDI/FAIM standards, acting within company guidelines at all times.
  • Prepare/update relocation status reports, review invoices and ensure timely payment, update tracking reports and maintain files for due diligence and financials.
  • Purchase Order progress, chasing with suppliers globally and liaising with overseas agents.
  • Ensure data accuracy within Sterling Lexicon Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with all key performance indicators
  • Any other duties as may be requested by the Company

Skills & experience:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in Moving, HHG is required
  • Excellent verbal & numerical reasoning
  • Can do attitude -Positive and personable
  • Enjoys solving problems
  • Excellent geographical & global awareness
  • High level aptitude with Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Has gained personal insights through work or interests in the challenges of being in a foreign culture (e.g. through personal travel, living/working abroad/studying abroad or away from home)
  • Technical competence in a European Language would be useful
  • Be well organised and able to effectively arrange the move with other departments and so the ability to multi-task is essential.
  • Be a good problem solver, able to use intuition to resolve any issues and complaints from the client.
