As the Monthly and Special Gifts Assistant, you will support IJ’s monthly giving, workplace giving, and employer matching gift programs. These programs play an important role in our fundraising operations, and because they are uniquely situated and can overlap with various other donor clubs, they are ripe for creative cultivation strategies. As these programs grow, their role in IJ’s fundraising, and thus this position, will only become more vital.     
The ideal candidate will exhibit the close attention to detail necessary for data entry and donation handling tasks, demonstrate an ability to coordinate and work well with a range of team members on varied projects, and embody the spirit of a growth mindset as this position offers flexibility and an opportunity to develop skills. This position is best suited for a proactive individual with a curiosity to learn and an enthusiasm for supporting the growth of an evolving fundraising program.
Responsibilities:
  • Process donations for the special gifts program and assist with the monthly giving program by creating and updating donation records in Salesforce.  
  • Generate letters of acknowledgement for each program, which have varied needs and can require different documentation.
  • Coordinate with IJ’s Finance team to process any necessary changes during the monthly reconciliation process.
  • Assist with the administration of online third-party gift disbursement portals by vetting new platforms and creating profiles where appropriate, maintaining compliance, and completing ACH applications when needed.
  • Provide input on cultivation strategies for each program, and work with the program’s manager to outline the calendar for the year and ensure plans are executed.
  • Assist in the end-of-year statement mailing for monthly donors and provide general assistance for other in-house Development mailings throughout the year.
  • Log correspondence with donors, ensure any necessary follow-up occurs, and maintain clean data by making coding updates on individual records.
Required Skills:

  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm for taking on varied projects and identifying and filling potential gaps in each program’s operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot unexpected errors that arise
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (particularly Word and Excel)
  • A commitment to producing error-free work
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Salesforce or similar CRM experience preferred
  • Donation entry or nonprofit experience
