About the role

We're looking for Moderators to join our External Quality Assurance team on a flexible worker contract for the following qualification:

Level 1/2 Technical Award in Creative Design and Production

As a Moderator, you'll play a key role in ensuring that centres assess learners fairly, accurately and consistently. You'll review centre-marked work, apply quality assurance principles, and provide clear, constructive feedback to ensure national standards are maintained.

We’re keen to hear from individuals with a strong background in creative design and production, with experience of teaching and/or assessing learners in this subject area. You may currently work, or have previously worked, as an Art and Design, 3D Design, Creative Design or Design teacher, lecturer, trainer or assessor.

Whilst this is a flexible worker role, we require a reasonable level of commitment throughout the moderation window. Moderation activities begin in March 2027 where you will be expected to attend one of our Annual Training sessions. The primary moderation period will be between April and August 2027, during which your engagement will be most critical.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Conducting moderation activities in line with awarding organisation and regulatory requirements
  • Attending standardisation and team meetings as required
  • Reviewing centre marking to ensure assessment decisions are accurate, consistent and meet required standards
  • Producing clear, accurate and timely moderation reports within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Planning and managing moderation activity for allocated centres in line with sampling strategies and quality assurance requirements
  • Supporting continuous improvement by identifying areas for development and sharing best practice
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the qualification, assessment requirements and your subject-specialist area

We'd love to hear from you if you offer the following:

  • A relevant qualification at Level 3 or above in creative design or a closely related subject area
  • Current or recent occupational experience working within the creative design sector
  • Experience of teaching, assessing, internal quality assuring and/or moderating vocational or academic qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of assessment and quality assurance processes
  • Excellent written communication and report-writing skills
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards and delivering a positive experience for centres
