We're hiring a Staff Mobile QA Engineer to lead mobile and end-to-end quality assurance for our next-generation regulated medical device platform. You'll combine hands-on manual testing across mobile apps and physical devices with the design and maintenance of automated test suites spanning native iOS and Android applications and web companion interfaces all under IEC 62304 compliance frameworks. Working closely with mobile, frontend, backend, firmware, and regulatory teams, you'll own test strategy, automation infrastructure, and the traceability between requirements, test cases, and verification evidence required for FDA submission. This is a hands-on role for a QA engineer who treats test code as production code and understands the discipline required to verify safety-critical software end-to-end.

Description

  • Own manual and automated end-to-end testing for an regulated medical device platform from mobile UI through to the physical device
  • Build robust automation suites with Maestro and Playwright across native iOS, native Android, and web interfaces
  • Drive test strategy, traceability, and verification evidence in support of IEC 62304 and FDA submission requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, take ownership of features, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of QA engineering experience, including delivery in safety-critical, regulated, or otherwise high-reliability environments
  • Proven experience designing and owning end-to-end test strategy for production mobile applications on both iOS and Android
  • Extensive hands-on manual end-to-end testing experience for mobile applications and connected devices. Exploratory testing, scripted test execution, real-world usage scenarios, environmental and edge-case validation, defect reproduction and triage, and verification of fixes against physical hardware
  • Deep, hands-on experience with Maestro for mobile UI test automation. Flow authoring, parameterization, tags and selectors, custom commands, JavaScript hooks, and integration into CI pipelines
  • Solid command of UI test pyramids for mobile including snapshot testing, accessibility testing, and device-matrix coverage
  • Practical experience with mobile device farms and cloud testing platforms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, AWS Device Farm, Firebase Test Lab)
  • Hands-on experience with API and contract testing (REST Assured, Postman/Newman, Pact, or similar) against backend services
  • Performance and reliability testing experience flake detection and reduction, retry strategies, test isolation, and quarantine workflows
  • Strong testing discipline around traceability: linking test cases to requirements in JIRA / Xray, generating verification reports, and maintaining audit-ready evidence

Strong documentation skills, including clear and concise authoring of test plans, test cases, test reports, and verification artifacts suitable for audit‑ready and regulated environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing software in regulated environments with working knowledge of IEC 62304, IEC 62366 (usability engineering), including the role of QA in software verification and validation (V&V)
  • Familiarity with FDA Software Validation guidance
  • Experience with Appium for cross-platform mobile test automation including hybrid app coverage, integration with existing test management tooling, and use as a complement to Maestro for scenarios requiring deeper native interaction
  • Experience in testing hardware‑integrated software systems, including BLE connectivity, embedded firmware validation, and basic electrical and power‑signal verification in collaboration with hardware teams
  • Awareness of relevant medical device safety standards (IEC 60601 series) and how software-driven test scenarios feed into system-level verification
  • Familiarity with secure handling of sensitive test data, PHI scrubbing, and synthetic data generation for healthcare applications
  • Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, and test management tools (Xray, TestRail) for traceable test documentation
  • Exposure to performance and load testing tools (k6, Gatling, JMeter) for backend service verification
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining shared test infrastructure, custom Maestro/Playwright fixtures, or internal QA libraries
