The Role

Position Description

Swarmbotics is seeking an entry-level Mission Operations & Testing Specialist to support both daily testing of our autonomous ground systems and live field demonstrations for Department of War (DoW) customers. This hybrid role combines hands-on robot testing, technical field operations, and customer-facing mission support. You will help ensure our robots are reliable, safe, and ready for real-world missions while representing the company during high-visibility demonstrations, exercises, and field events.

This is an ideal role for someone excited about robotics, eager to learn, and comfortable working in dynamic environments—whether in field testing, traveling to bases, or operating on training ranges. You will collaborate closely with engineering, software, business development, and end users, contributing directly to product quality, customer traction, and mission success.
What You’ll Do

Testing & Engineering Support
  • Execute daily robot testing using established procedures, safety protocols, and scripted test plans.
  • Collect and document test data, including logs, metrics, bugs, and environmental observations.
  • Prepare robots for testing, including charging, calibration, software updates, and startup verification.
  • Monitor test progress and communicate status, blockers, and findings to operations leads and engineering teams.
  • Capture photos/videos, flag issues, and provide clear, structured feedback to help drive product improvements.
Mission & Field Operations
  • Deploy to DoW bases, test sites, and training ranges to support live demonstrations, user events, and field exercises.
  • Serve as a frontline operator and technician responsible for setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and safe operation of robots in the field.
Engage directly with end users to explain system capabilities, gather feedback, and understand mission needs.
  • Support sales and business development efforts by helping convert field interest into customer traction.
  • Operate confidently in outdoor, austere, or dynamic environments while maintaining professionalism and safety
  • Relay operational insights, user requirements, and field observations back to engineering and leadership teams.

Required Qualifications
  • Willingness to travel 2-3 times per month, with extended trips of 2-3 weeks several times per year.
  • Valid driver’s license and comfort transporting equipment or towing trailers.
  • Willingness to work in person in Phoenix, AZ.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain appropriate security clearances.
  • Ability to lift 60–80 lbs and perform physically active tasks.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for technical systems in austere conditions
  • Technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new tools, systems, and workflows
  • Proven ability to capture and relay user feedback to technical teams
  • Ability to work outdoors, in hands-on environments, and on your feet for extended periods.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills to both end-users and decision-makers
  • Adaptability and composure in fast-changing or high-pressure environments.
  • Professional presence in customer-facing and high-visibility environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior military experience strongly preferred (enlisted or officer, any branch)
  • Hands-on experience with robotics or unmanned systems.
  • Experience deploying to and operating in DoW environments
  • Experience with DoW R&D programming and early milestone development
  • Experience supporting sales/BD efforts in defense or government sectors
  • Background in field testing, demonstrations, or training in technical environments
  • Knowledge of DoW acquisition processes and stakeholder relationships
