Position Summary

Millwright I is an entry-level maintenance technician responsible for assisting in the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery in a sawmill environment. This role works under the direction of senior maintenance personnel to ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining and repairing sawmill equipment such as conveyors, motors, gearboxes, belts, chains, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks and inspections
  • Support equipment installation, alignment, and calibration activities
  • Replace mechanical components including bearings, shafts, and sprockets
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues under supervision
  • Safely operated hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns as directed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols
  • Accurately document maintenance activities and completed work

  • Ability to read and use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
