Position Summary
Millwright I is an entry-level maintenance technician responsible for assisting in the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery in a sawmill environment. This role works under the direction of senior maintenance personnel to ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining and repairing sawmill equipment such as conveyors, motors, gearboxes, belts, chains, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks and inspections
- Support equipment installation, alignment, and calibration activities
- Replace mechanical components including bearings, shafts, and sprockets
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues under supervision
- Safely operated hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices
- Respond to equipment breakdowns as directed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols
- Accurately document maintenance activities and completed work
Qualifications
- Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of industrial equipment
- Ability to read and use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
- Strong work ethics and willingness to learn
