At Women's Care of the Bluegrass, we prioritize compassionate, high-quality care in a setting where relationships come first. We’re seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife who is passionate about rural health and ready to be a trusted partner in the lives of women and families throughout all stages of life. 

 

This position will provide comprehensive, individualized care to women throughout the childbearing cycle, including prenatal care, labor and delivery support, postpartum care, and well-woman gynecological services. The Midwife collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and evidence-based care within a supportive and empowering environment at CFMC.


Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Provide full-scope midwifery care to women, including prenatal exams, risk assessments, childbirth education, labor and delivery support, postpartum care, newborn assessments, and family planning counseling.
  • Develop individualized care plans based on each woman's unique needs and preferences, respecting her autonomy and informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to manage high-risk pregnancies or complications that arise during labor and delivery, ensuring seamless and coordinated care.
  • Perform routine gynecological exams, screenings, and procedures, addressing women's reproductive health needs throughout their lifespan.
  • Provide education and counseling on various topics related to pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and family planning.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records, documenting all patient encounters, assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Adhere to evidence-based guidelines and best practices in midwifery care, staying current with the latest research and advancements in the field.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Build strong rapport with patients, fostering a trusting and supportive relationship that empowers them to actively participate in their care.
  • Advocate for the needs of women and families within the healthcare system, promoting access to quality maternity care services.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required, providing timely and responsive care to laboring women.
  • Maintain professional licensure and certifications, demonstrating ongoing commitment to professional development and continuing education.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and resources to provide comprehensive support and education to families in the area.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment, supporting colleagues and fostering teamwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a variety of birth settings.
  • Experience with diverse patient populations.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of women's health, pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care
  • Proficiency in performing vaginal deliveries, including assisting with Cesarean sections when necessary
  • Ability to manage high-risk pregnancies and births in collaboration with physicians
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and their families
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to providing patient-centered care
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications

Required Education:

  • Graduate of a midwifery education program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME)
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current state licensure as a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) or Certified Midwife (CM)

Schedule Requirements:

Full-time position, 4 days per week, in-person work required.

Work schedules are set at the discretion of CFMC and may be adjusted at any time based on the operational needs of the organization.


Compensation: Negotiable based on experience
