We are looking for Embedded Linux Software Engineer to join our R&D team in Vilnius or Kaunas. You will join one of the teams developing our next-generation video telematics devices and be responsible for designing and maintaining embedded Linux software for multi-channel camera capture, on-device video recording, live streaming, and AI-ready data pipelines. We'd love to walk You through all the details during the recruitment process!
Teltonika’s telematics business unit develops and produces easy-to-use GPS tracking devices for effective fleet management across logistics, agriculture, car sharing, construction, and more. We use the latest technologies to set new standards for the telematics industry.
If you want to help build a cross-domain RTOS + Linux video telematics platform from the ground up rather than maintain someone else's legacy code, this is the team for You.
In this role, you will:
- Design, implement, and maintain embedded Linux software for our video telematics devices.
- Develop and integrate the media pipeline (V4L2, GStreamer, hardware video encoding) for multi-channel camera capture, recording, and live/historical video streaming.
- Build and maintain communication between the Linux application processor and the RTOS MCU domain.
- Contribute to Yocto-based platform work, including BSP integration, service packaging, and CI pipeline support.
- Implement services supporting protocol-based live streaming and historical clip upload.
- Design for field reliability, including power-loss recovery, storage fault handling, and long-run recording stability.
- Work closely with hardware engineers on camera/ISP bring-up and SoC evaluation.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum team processes, decision making, code reviews, and technical documentation.
What we expect of you:
- Solid experience programming embedded systems in C/C++ with Linux, including kernel/userspace boundaries and systemd services.
- Experience with multimedia/video pipeline frameworks such as V4L2, GStreamer, or similar.
- Experience with Yocto or Buildroot-based build systems.
- Understanding of Linux inter-process communication mechanisms (shared memory, sockets, RPMsg, D-Bus).
- Knowledge of debugging tools (gdb, strace, perf) and hardware lab equipment.
- Ability to read schematics and work closely with hardware teams.
- Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Experience with camera/ISP integration and hardware video encoding/decoding (H.264/H.265).
- Experience with heterogeneous or dual-MCU (RTOS + Linux) architectures and cross-domain IPC.
- Knowledge of vehicle telematics/M2M protocols.
- Experience with low-level hardware communication protocols (e.g.: SPI, I2C, CAN, UART)
- Experience with OTA update mechanisms (RAUC, swupdate, A/B partitioning).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Any other relevant experience that you think makes you a great fit!
What we offer:
- Great opportunities to grow in a strong and rapidly expanding company.
- Interesting and ambitious projects of industrial GPS tracking devices.
- Place where curiosity is key: here, we share knowledge and learn in training courses, conferences or business trips.
- Dynamic, challenging work environment and cooperation-based internal culture.
- Care about your emotional and physical well-being by offering flexible work schedules, hybrid work opportunities and health insurance.
- Company-paid sports activities (basketball, football, volleyball, yoga) and other sports events.
- Celebrating achievements and having fun together in team building, summer festivals, and other important occasions.
- Opportunity for solid bonuses when participating in the recommendation program.
- We delight with birthday and Christmas gifts and rewards on work anniversaries.
- Office snacks.
Salary:
We appreciate everyone's efforts and experiences, so we offer an attractive salary matching your skillset and field expertise. The salary for this position ranges from 25 Eur/h up to 45 Eur/h (~4170 Eur—7507 Eur) pre-tax, depending on your experience and expertise, with the option to get bonuses.
*In an employment agreement, we specify and define a fixed (tariff) hourly salary rate before taxes.
